"Worse customer service I've ever experienced. We were very specific with what we wanted. Owner sketches out designs and does not use any sort of computer program. That was fine except his estimate and final price were over $4,000 different (and we did not change our plans or minds on anything from original design except when mistakes and incorrect measurements were made by owner and changes HAD to be made due to their mistakes). Many mistakes and incorrect measurements were made. We told him we were installing a farm house sink and he made the cabinet for a standard sink. We wanted sink centered with the window but were ok with up to 1/2 inch off.....it ended up being over 4 inches off center and due to mistake by the owner that we had to take out the lazy Susan in the corner and put in a smaller cabinet (which he made us pay for and he took the lazy susan we already paid for). We have glass shelving on one cupboard and owner commented how expensive the glass was AND the glass doesn't even fit!!!! Owner would not do anything about it (another mistake in measurements). We have to get new glass made now (extra money for us). On install day, they put so many extra holes in the walls trying to find studds.....our contractor tried to help them but they wouldn't listen to him and just keep putting holes in (you'd have thought they'd never installed before). Cabinets were not level, screws were not put in all the way, some screws started to blow out the wood. Drawers are very hard to open and do not close all the way. For a custom cabinet maker, he just makes the frames. The doors are made by an Amish company. I don't know how many times the owner would say to us "well, that's not standard, well that's not standard." We went to him because we didn't want standard, we wanted custom. If you want true custom, don't go here. We actually have enough things that he screwed up on and documentation and witnesses that we could have taken him to court but honestly, we just wanted to be done with him. I honestly could write a dozen more examples of mistakes and issues. Owner is one of the most disrespectful people to his consumers I've ever met. With our house build, this was hands down the worse experience!!!"

Countertops and Backsplashes questions, answered by experts
Granite countertops cost an average of $3,250 compared to $2,250 for tile countertops. Granite is also harder to DIY than tile, given its weight and bulk, which increases the overall labor cost of installation. Over time, both types of countertops may need sealing to remain resistant to water, heat, and other common kitchen elements.
There are several countertop options available to fit your lifestyle and needs.
Granite countertops are durable and come in a variety of colors.
Soapstone countertops are prone to scratches and best in smaller kitchens.
Marble countertops are less durable than granite but a good option for busy kitchens.
Slate countertops are stain-resistant, making them easy to clean.
Limestone countertops must be sealed often to prevent scratches.
Acrylic countertops cost less than granite while still providing durability.
Laminate countertops are the most affordable but chip and fade faster.
Wood countertops need monthly sealing to maintain.
It typically takes one to three days to install kitchen countertops. A few factors like size and material impact the time it takes to install a countertop. For example, if you have two slabs of countertop material, it won’t take as long to install as placing several custom pieces of countertop.
This timelines allows for removing existing countertops and any plumbing disconnect and reconnect that needs to happen. Plan on the higher end of the time frame if you've chosen custom countertops versus large slabs.
If you need to make curved cuts on your laminate countertop, get out the jigsaw. A jigsaw with a fine blade will allow you to follow curved traced lines. It is important to cut slowly and to let the jigsaw do most of the work with you acting as a guide.
Marble countertops don’t necessarily crack easily. However, they are more susceptible to damage than some other types of countertops. For example, they can develop etching from acidic liquids, such as lemon or tomato juice. Marble can also chip at the edges if you drop a heavy pan. A faux marble countertop isn’t as delicate as the real deal (depending on the material you’re painting over), but it can still get scratched if you’re not careful. Use hot pads and cutting boards to protect the countertop.
