"We had this plumber here last February 2020 and we were pleased with him. He said he could redo the plumbing so it would be neater as the guys that had put in the water neutralizer had made quite a menagerie of pipes and etc. He also told us that it appeared that the pressure tank had a small leak and we should think about getting one in advance so we could replace it when needed. We called him for another repair this December 2021 and left messages on 12/10, 12/11 and 12/13 at the 715-453-8240 and he did not return the calls. Thinking that the number may have changed I searched online and found a cell number which I called and got an answer. I told him we had 3 leaks on the 13th of December and he said he couldn't come until the 17th so we limped along until then. When he got here he seemed crabby, he didn't answer my questions(some I asked 3 times) and he did the repairs which included two pipe leaks, a leaking pressure switch and he hooked up the new pressure tank. After they left we ran the water and the pump was short cycling. Come to find out he never set the pressure switch correctly so it was set at 40/30 so the pump was cycling off and on continuously when we ran the water. I should've stopped payment on the check. We adjusted the pressure switch and corrected the pressure tank as well. Also, he didn't have any 1 inch pipe so I found a piece of new 1 inch pipe that we had, then he needed a 1 inch to 3/4 inch tee that he didn't have so he had to go to Merrill to get that, we're in Gleason I was thinking, "what do you have in that fancy truck if you don't have these parts?" Then he charged us for the time it took for him to go to Merrill and back too yet. Very disappointed in his work. Will not be calling him again."

Gas Leak Repair questions, answered by experts

If your home uses more than one gas appliance, you'll continue to use gas, even outside of the heating season. Your water heater, gas stove and oven, and gas dryer will all use some gas, although typically much less than a furnace. Additionally, those appliances may also have a pilot light that is lit continually, using a small amount even when no one is at home.

Gas lines are built for longevity, so they can last up to 50 years when installed properly. However, normal wear and tear are possible, especially in moderate climates. Having a plumber or local gas company inspect your gas lines every year is best to ensure there are no hidden leaks or other dangerous problems.

You may want to remove the gas line if it’s unsightly or if it’s causing a problem with future appliances. The downside is if you decide to go back to gas, you would need to run a new gas line to the area.  The average cost to run a new gas line is $550, but the installation can range anywhere from $120 to $1,350.

The biggest disadvantage of propane is that heating systems and appliances powered by propane tend to cost more than gas-powered ones. Propane is also dangerous since it can create frostbite if it touches the skin and can easily combust if mishandled. It’s also quite cumbersome to buy or replace propane tanks, so many people choose to have propane delivered to their homes—an extra cost and logistical challenge that can be a headache.

In most cases, a gas stove should be installed by a licensed plumber. Connecting gas appliances carries many risks, chief among them a fatal gas leak. If your home is already set up with the proper gas hookups, you may be able to DIY the installation (or save money by hiring a local handyperson or basic appliance installer near you rather than a plumber). If you’re ever in doubt, however, we recommend going with a professional master plumber.
