Really Bad. Thought I was going with a good honest company but was definitely taken for a ride… Furnace wasn’t working but is only 5 years old, tech came out and started testing things to find the issue and then determined it was the gas valve and went out to his truck to get a new valve. While he was installing it I asked how much it would cost and wasn’t given an answer, I was told he was just testing to see if it was actually the gas valve that needed to be replaced. Then he proceeded to finish the entire job and test it and put the cover on the furnace like it was a done deal! Except that I hadn’t even been told how much it would be. Considering the exact “gas valve” he replaced costs $69.99 online with free shipping (from a reputable vendor) and he was only there for under an hour, I expected the bill to be around $250, with $100 for the part and $150 for the labor. However, I was greeted with a $365 bill! If I had been told upfront that I would be charged $365 for him to swap out a simple valve, I would have reconsidered and gotten a quote from another company. However, he never even gave me this option. This wasn’t the worst part though… What came next was. I asked to speak to a manager and was promptly called by someone from their office. Literally 30 seconds into the conversation I can hear their technician ripping my furnace apart to take the part out of the furnace!!! So, while I am just trying to figure out the bill, this guy is downstairs in my basement ripping the “newly fixed” furnace apart again!!! I’ve never had a company treat me this way and I have to think that this is their tactic to deal with people when they are presented with a bill they are not happy with – because I then had no choice but to have him put it all back together so it was working again because the longer I stayed on the phone the more that was going to be taken apart. It was an extremely stressful situation and it shouldn’t have been but the “manager” refused to acknowledge the situation in any way and just kept saying their rate is what it is and they don’t care if I felt wronged or upset and they didn’t care that I wasn’t told there was a $85 charge for troubleshooting or that the technician hadn’t disclosed the cost before completing the work... This situation was made 10x worse by the “manager” who showed zero consideration for a customer or their issues. In addition, I reached out to them through email and they completely ignored me... I will be telling everyone I know to avoid Southern Lakes Plumbing and Heating because I don’t think they care about the customer at all.

Not well. They came out and replaced one part, seemed to be working. Within 5 days, I had hot water spraying from another part. I had to call again after hours. The tech said that I needed a few more parts, which could wait until next month. By the next day, I had a pretty good drip of water, about half a bucket in 8 hours. I waited until Monday morning to call, and was told to leave a voice message. I did not receive a call back after over an hour and a half, so I got mad. If these people weren't going to respond, I needed to call someone else. When I called them again, I was told not to yell, as that would not help. I told her leaving a message did not help. She sent me to the manager, who told me he had more important things to do than check his voice mail. He sent someone out, who replaced at least 5 different parts, most of which were leaking (had not leaked previously). Bottom line, I have paid over $1000 and while I do have heat, I also have another leak where the first part was joined to the pipe. I will say that the techs who came to my home were very polite. The D rating on professionalism is not referring to them.

The faucets were quick and easy, however the leaky pipe is still leaking. The plumber was nice and very perfessional. He was able to explain each problem and was pretty thorough for the most part.

Great! I called them on Monday morning and the lady that answered the phone was very nice and professional. They managed to have someone come over within a few hours, which was a great surprise. Greg replaced my faucet, but only after making sure it couldn't be fixed. He was fast and very friendly. I highly recommend this company.

Southern lakes installed a new septic system in my back yard. They were prompt and on time with the permits and installation. The workmanship of the system was good. There was 6 total inspection/vents left open, and uncovered  in the system for the inspector to come in and inspect there work. Southern lakes Did not come back and finish closing up the vents. I called them and talked to the owner. he said he was sorry and would be out that week to finish the job. By may of 2015 Southern lakes still had not came out to finish the job. I had to personally go out, dig down in my yard 2 feet around each pipe, cut the PVC pipe, and cap the pipe then bury the remaining pipe. I was upset that I paid for a  COMPLETE septic system and I didn't get what I paid for.  I defiantly learned my lesson that I should NEVER pay the bill until the job is 100% complete not 98% complete.

I have used this company a number of times over the last year or 2. The dates I placed were not the actual dates, because I did not write it down. They are awesome. They explain every detail. If they can fix what's wrong without having to replace something they do. As a single disabled woman this is a refreshing stance in the industry. I can't recommend them highly enough. I have used several other companies since moving to WI in 2006. Never as satisfied as I am with his group. Thanks you!

I've been using them for 10 years and they've installed everything incorrectly. We've had a lot of different work done and things replaced. Whole house air filtration system was installed incorrectly, my door motor was replaced incorrectly, they told me I didn't have fresh air intake an I did, they wouldn't return my phone calls when I tried to get them to replace my fresh air intake when i was in the middle of a remodel, I even called the manager and no one returned my calls. The plumbing side of the business is no problem so only the HVAC side of Southern Lakes is a problem.

They called before coming. Asked if earlier was better. They were fast, efficient and kept me informed on what they found. I have used them once before. I will recommend them anytime.

The technician apparently did his do diligence in checking out the water heater.
Per invoice: and quot;Tech got on with Ametrican Tech Support and it was determined a gas valve and pilot assembly is needed. Unit is still under warranty for parts only. Tech ordered the parts and American is sending them kurt. Once they are received we will return to install themand quot; This work was done and the parts were installed.
PROBLEM:
When the invoice was received we were charged $84./hourly rate for the technician's time and that is OK.
There was an additional charge of $84.45 identified as a and quot;Dispatch fee for service call! When we inquired about this fee, we were told it is to cover the cost of gas! WHAT kind of vehicles need $84 to travel??? The receptionist was not customer service oriented and has lost our future business.
Be aware...if you pay by credit card, you have to add $6.73 to the bottom total of your invoice that included the tax. There is no discount for prompt, early or cash payments.
We have had previous more positive experience with this company when we installed an air conditioning unit. They gave the low bid. When the AC unit started up the line froze and they under estimated the circulation ... they remedied that problem without additional charges and certainly no and quot;dispatch fee.and quot;
When comparing scheduled, routine servicing for both heat and A/C, their rates were hire than other local competitors.
