"I hired Mendoza Drywall LLC to take down drywall in my finished basement. They were prompt, courteous, friendly and hard working, going out of their way to ensure I was happy with their work, all at a very fair price. They even came out just two days after I called them again to take down some more drywall for me. I would definitely hire Mendoza Drywall again and would recommend them to anyone. Thank you Mendoza Drywall."

"Carmen and his team were at our home to install drywall and we hired him separately to do our fireplace stone install. His attention to detail and hard work ethic is unseen these days. He did a beautiful job, worked with us to pick the perfect grout color, design of the stone, etc. and then cleaned up so nicely each day. After building a house, we’ve seen the full range of contractors and Carmen stuck out as one of the really professional ones! Can’t recommend enough!"

"We recently had our basement finished by different friends in the trades. Drop ceilings was an area that everyone said they could do, but it wasn't high on their list. I've learned in the past that the best work is done by people that are committed to doing a specific trade. I went online and found Strictly Ceilings. I couldn't be happier with the whole process of getting our drop ceiling installed. From the initial call with Christine, to having Tim do the installation was a fantastic and reasonably priced experience. I was impressed with just how easy he made it look and by how great the finished product turned out! I would highly recommend this company if you are looking for someone to do your drop ceiling!"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

A post-drywall inspection could uncover many problems that weren’t present during the pre-drywall inspection, including insufficient insulation, missing weather stripping, improperly installed plumbing and lighting fixtures, flooring damage, drywall damage, plumbing leaks, aesthetic issues, and more. Structural problems, which are often expensive to fix and are common reasons to walk away after a home inspection, are easier to see before the drywall goes up, but a post-drywall inspection may highlight minor issues with house settling and foundation problems.

It’s not a good idea to plaster over broken plaster (unless by broken you’re referring to cracked, in which case that’s perfectly fine). However, broken plaster can be a sign of a larger underlying issue like foundation damage or severe damage to the lath holding up the plaster, so it’s worth investigating before you simply plaster on top of the damage.

Common causes include water leaks, settling, and impact. Address underlying issues to prevent recurring damage.

Most drywall used for interior walls of homes is 1/2-inch thick. This size strikes a balance of being easy to handle and hang while being thick enough for the durability needed on interior wall applications.

Plaster ceilings can sag for several reasons. In some cases, the plaster and other building materials shift and come apart over time, which is why you’ll commonly find drooping plaster ceilings in older homes. Improper installation, foot traffic, and water damage—often from a leaky roof or a broken pipe—can also cause plaster ceilings to sag.
