"Matt was up front about the cost and understood our policy to obtain estimates from 3 companies before proceeding with work in our home. He itemized the estimate and explained the procedure and warranty. He was pleasant to work with! He did not require an hour of my time or insist that both my husband and I be present in order to give us a sales pitch. The price was competitive and not inflated to cover marketing expenses. I like that the company is family owned & local, and that the workers are employees, not sub-contractors. The men who did the work were efficient and we have had no water in our basement since the waterproofing was done. I believe the contractors who followed Acculevel's work were a little surprised at the materials used, and they had to adjust their plans somewhat, but all is good in the end. Thank you!"

"Rich came to give us a quote the same day we called. He told us what items could be cleaned and saved and what had to be disposed of. He took the time and explained everything thoroughly. The next morning his crew came on time and got right to work. Rich and the guys did a great job cleaning our basement. You would never know their was ever sewage in our basement. Yes, crawl spaces can attract bugs, especially since moisture tends to build up in the space, and moisture attracts pests. A good way to prevent pest infestation in your crawl space is to install a vapor barrier—called crawl space encapsulation—on the interior to seal the space, along with a French drain or some other kind of foundation drainage system outside to keep runoff out of your crawl space. You can also seal foundation cracks and repair damages to cut off access to pests.

A crawl space can be as little as 42 inches below the grade of your house, but this is not always recommended in flood-prone areas. At a minimum, there must be at least 16 inches of clearance between the ground and the floor joists to access the space in an emergency.

In most cases, a crawl space will not dry out on its own unless the moisture comes from an uncommon flood and isn’t expected to be a recurring issue. For most homeowners, moisture problems in the crawl space will only continue to get worse over time, so addressing the underlying problem with gutter systems or a foundation drainage system and setting up a preventative solution like a dehumidifier is necessary.

A moisture or vapor barrier helps separate the warm air inside your home from the cold air outside of it. Without it, your walls could collect condensation, mold, or other damage. Check your local building codes to see if including an interior vapor barrier is necessary for your building project or renovation, especially for rooms that are likely to be humid, like bathrooms.

You can seal a concrete slab by cleaning the surface, filling in any cracks, etching the surface, applying a sealer, and letting it dry. Concrete slabs don't typically need sealing, but you can use a topical concrete sealer if you notice signs of water damage. If you haven't already fixed the cause of the leak, then you'll want to repair the plumbing before you seal a concrete slab.
