"I called him, described our basement mess, luckily only a portion of our unfinished area was flooded, due to our dead sub pump. He offered to check with his contracting crew and if no urgency with them to be over within the hour. Forty minutes later, he met us at our house, & after having bailed out 500 + gallons of water, he had our basement floor dry. Best of all, he billed very reasonably."

"We are selling our home and had a small list of things to repair after the inspection. The plumber that came out (I'm horrible with names) was very professional, on time, and fixed a flange that was cracked that we didn't even know about. He also explained the services performed very well on the receipt for us to give to our home buyer. Also each time I called someone picked up right away and was very professional. I had an appointment within days of my first request but was offered sooner if I needed it."

"I am very happy with Monarch Plumbing. Very friendly, professional and did a great job! Arrived on time. He let me know up front exactly how much everything was going to cost and I really liked that. Very affordable for the work being done. He did a great job cleaning up after the job was complete. He will be my go to plumber from now on and I will be recommending him to family and friends."

"Craig and Katie run a great operation here with Happy Home Contracting. We used them to help with our kitchen remodel in November, 2022. Their team spent several days with us, working on items ranging from flooring and tile work to ceiling work and painting. Their team cares about doing quality work, and it shows. Craig is an excellent communicator, which makes things run smoothly. Highly recommended. - Todd"

"Very polite salesman who went over the work choices we could do and gaves us several options to choose from and price quotes on each option. The workers were very friendly and hard working. They showed us what they were going to do as they went along in the process. That part was very interesting to see what they were going to do and we could ask questions as we went along then. We did the who outside drainage work and foundation waterproofed. Put in a new back up sump pump and did a whole perimeter drainage system and braced two walls. We were very impressed with the work and all the workers. I would recommend them to anyone."

Affordable Plumbers questions, answered by experts

A bathtub diverter is used when you have a shower-tub combination. The diverter valve allows you to send the water to either your tub faucet or your showerhead. Diverter shower valves cost between $20 and $200. Higher-end brands, such as Moen, might cost more—some models are over $250.

Yes, frozen pipes can cause a toilet to stop working correctly. If the pipes are frozen, water cannot flow, which can lead to two main problems. First, the supply line to the toilet tank may be frozen, which prevents the tank from refilling with water after you flush. Second, the drain pipe itself can freeze, blocking water from flushing away. As a temporary solution for a non-refilling tank, you can manually add water, but this is not a long-term fix. To clear a frozen drain pipe, you can try pouring warm water into the toilet bowl or tank and then flushing, as the warm water may help thaw the ice blockage. Ultimately, the best course of action is to unfreeze the affected pipes to restore your toilet to full functionality.

Unfortunately, yes. If your well pump continues working when the flow of water is completely blocked, the motor will burn up. The energy has nowhere to go, thanks to the blockage, so it turns inward. The end result? A ruined well pump and a depleted bank account (once you shop for a replacement.)

Your pipes will not freeze just because you’ve turned your water heater off. Rather, pipes freeze when temperatures outside drop below freezing and the pipes are not properly insulated. In fact, leaving your faucets trickling with warm water (from the water heater) is one of the best ways to prevent your pipes from freezing in the winter.

Your water heater itself may have problems in the cold, so it’s important to winterize it each year. In addition, keep an eye on it throughout the year for problems and address any issues accordingly. For instance, here’s what to do if your water heater is leaking from the top.

Tools include a wrench, plunger, and wax ring. Professionals use specialized tools for complex installations.
