Small jobs welcome

"I still have vacuum lines in my carpet from where they cleaned up after themselves! In addition to responsive customer service, competitive prices, and a polite, clean work crew; CM Advance Insullation was easy to work with and did a fantastic job. I was invited to inspect the work and could easily see that the job had been done well."

"They had a great group of people to work with, The crew was there at the appointment time. Nick and his team worked together well to get the job done, including adding insulation to the attic, adding foam to all exterior walls, and insulating in the basement. This was all done in 1 day and they cleaned up after themselves. I would highly recommend them."

"Travis, Logan and Jaxon were very professional in their work and cleaned up after. Great group of men to work with and I highly recommend Koala. Also had a room fan installed. None other of the estimates I had offered a fan. Another feature Koala offered and installed was an insulated zipped hatch cover over the entrance cover into the attic to completely seal any air leakage. Highly recommend Koala"

Insulation FAQs, answered by experts

Insulating ducts prevent or significantly reduce condensation by reducing temperature differences between the duct surface and surrounding air. Proper insulation also minimizes sweating, improves energy efficiency, and prevents moisture damage. However, if humidity levels are unusually high or there are air leaks, additional measures like sealing ducts and using a dehumidifier may be needed.

The best type of attic insulation depends on where you live, your budget, and what stage of construction the attic is in. For example, if you're building a house, then structural insulated panels are a worthy investment since they're easy to install during construction and they're the most energy-efficient type of insulation.

Additionally, if you live in a very warm climate, then you can potentially save quite a bit of money by opting for reflective insulation, which is more affordable than comprehensive insulation but doesn't work well for cool climates. Blown-in, loose-fill, and spray foam insulation are all great options for attics in moderate climates.

A-frame houses pose specific challenges that can make heating difficult. Their open concept design with high ceilings can lead to a colder lower floor and a warmer upper floor. A ceiling fan that pushes warm air down or pulls cold air up, depending on the season, can easily counteract temperature issues. Additionally, certain types of heating do better in these homes than others. For example, heated floors tend to be more practical and energy efficient than baseboard heating.

Insulation can be made of cellulose, fiberglass, polyurethane, polystyrene, or mineral wool. Radiant barriers are often made of aluminum or other similarly reflective materials, but they will need to be paired with something else because they don’t provide heating benefits. Cellulose is among the most eco-friendly options and may be recycled when it’s past its shelf-life, whereas polyurethane and polystyrene both emit harmful compounds and will need to be handled with care during installation.

Pipes in your house can freeze after six hours or so if you lose power and temperatures are below freezing. You can prepare for potential power outages by winterizing your pipes with insulation. Also, whenever temperatures drop below 20 degrees Fahrenheit, turn your faucets on very low and leave them dripping until temperatures rise.
