Small jobs welcome

"I still have vacuum lines in my carpet from where they cleaned up after themselves! In addition to responsive customer service, competitive prices, and a polite, clean work crew; CM Advance Insullation was easy to work with and did a fantastic job. I was invited to inspect the work and could easily see that the job had been done well."

"They had a great group of people to work with, The crew was there at the appointment time. Nick and his team worked together well to get the job done, including adding insulation to the attic, adding foam to all exterior walls, and insulating in the basement. This was all done in 1 day and they cleaned up after themselves. I would highly recommend them."

"Travis, Logan and Jaxon were very professional in their work and cleaned up after. Great group of men to work with and I highly recommend Koala. Also had a room fan installed. None other of the estimates I had offered a fan. Another feature Koala offered and installed was an insulated zipped hatch cover over the entrance cover into the attic to completely seal any air leakage. Highly recommend Koala"

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Water freezes at 32 degrees Fahrenheit, but the actual temperature that can cause frozen pipes can vary. Generally, it takes 12 hours for pipes to freeze at 32 degrees Fahrenheit.

Uninsulated pipes can freeze if it’s 20 degrees Fahrenheit or colder for over three hours. If your pipes are insulated, it can take six hours or longer for pipes to freeze. Note that some pipe types freeze more often than PEX pipes. Copper pipes freeze more often because the copper conducts energy and loses heat quickly.

The amount and type of insulation your home needs depends on your location, climate, and the specific installation area (attic, walls, or floors). Your local building code will typically determine the minimum required R-value. For specific recommendations, Energy Star suggests the following R-values: homes in the Southern U.S. should have R30 to R60 in attics and R13 to R25 in floors and walls; homes in moderate climates need R38 to R60 in attics and R25 to R30 in floors and walls; and homes in northern states require R49 to R60 in attics and R25 to R30 in floors and walls.

Closed-cell foam may come with a higher price tag, but it’s worth the investment because of its strength and durability. This material offers excellent thermal and moisture resistance, contributing to its long life span. Its construction enhances energy efficiency, which can lead to reduced heating and cooling costs over time.

No, 55 degrees Fahrenheit is not too cold for a house, as it’s a temperature that will keep your pipes and appliances from freezing. Well-insulated homes can even go to 50 degrees, but check with an HVAC pro before opting for such a low temperature. Stick to 55 degrees to be on the safe side.

It is normal for the attic to be hotter than the rest of the house in the summer, but only by about 10 or 20 degrees. Attics that aren’t properly insulated or ventilated can reach temperatures of 130 degrees or more which can cause damage to the home’s structure, including the roof, wood framing, and HVAC system.
