"This is the second time I've had Blue Hills perform similar work; on my house a few years ago prior to selling it and on the house we subsequently purchased after box vents started to leak.  I was satisfied with both experiences.  Although their estimate was a bit higher than some others, I wanted to make sure a quality job was performed, and I got the impression they could/would deliver just that.  They completed my average-size ranch style house in a single day.  Only time will tell if the work holds up, but I don't have any complaints to this point.

Because pellet stoves don’t get as hot as other types of wood stoves, there only needs to be 3 inches of clearance from the wall on each side. Placing it in a corner should not impact the ventilation—you’ll still need to follow safety precautions by not installing too close to a window. Typically, it’s 4 feet from a window or 18 inches if the stove uses an external air source for combustion. Always check the owner’s manual for specific instructions.

There are fire codes for a fireplace mantel made of wood or other combustible material. The mantel must be mounted at least six inches away from the fireplace opening on all sides with a non-combustible material—like stone or brick—installed between the mantel and fireplace. You can let a fire burn out in a fireplace as long as you or someone else will stick around to monitor it until it goes completely out. This may take several hours.
