"Everything went very well. Cole was very accomodating and did a great job. The project needed some elevation because of the slope of the yard, and he adjusted for that very well. He answered every question we had to our satisfaction and worked very hard to get the job done in a timely manner. I would highly recommend him and will use him in the future for any work needed. Total cost: $1,956."

Pole Barn Builders questions, answered by experts

Trex is not stronger than wood, but it lasts longer than wood and is heavier. Trex holds up well to the elements and is resistant to termites thanks to its resilient composition of plastic, reclaimed wood, and sawdust. Trex decking is rot and warp-resistant, making it especially useful in areas that experience a lot of snow and rain.

There's no simple answer to which is less costly: wood or metal-framed homes. In most cases, metal building components cost more than wooden ones, while entire metal buildings cost less than wooden versions. However, regardless of the exterior framing or structure, each must meet similar building codes. This means that the costs are about the same, even considering that wood will require more maintenance than metal over time.

The lifespan of a barn is typically 40 to 60 years, but with skillful construction and proper maintenance, it can last up to 100 years. The actual lifespan depends on several factors, including the barn type, materials, usage, and climate. For example, the posts of a pole barn should last 50 years or longer, but if the structure is used for livestock in a rainy climate, it may rot within the first decade. Custom designs with high-end materials tend to last the longest. To get the best estimate for your barn's lifespan, you should consider its material type and intended use.

You may need a local building permit and written permission from your homeowner’s association to install a shed, especially if you’re doing any substantial land clearing or installing electricity or plumbing. Permit requirements vary between municipalities, so research the local laws before starting your project. If you hire a contractor to build the shed, they can help determine which permits will be necessary.

Yes, barndominiums can be two stories. Blueprints for barndominiums can safely support multiple stories or vaulted ceiling heights of 14 feet or more. Barndominiums are prized for their ability to be modified and customized to suit the builder’s preferences, and many barndominium construction companies offer a variety of different floor plans to choose from.
