Uncompromising quality and integrity in all of your precious metals purchases and sales. Specializing in gold & silver bullion. Avoid gold and silver retailers selling you their inventory at high premiums! We pay top prices for jewelry, sterling, diamonds and watches! Fisher Precious Metals is a national gold and silver dealer. Listed as a national dealer with the United States Mint, Fisher Precious Metals is a trusted resource for gold and silver coins and bars. Established in 1995, the firm works with individuals on all issues related to buying and selling physical precious metals, storage, security, estate liquidation and long-term exit strategies. John Fisher, the President, is an ICTA Board Member and is approved by the State of Florida to teach Continuing Education courses on precious metals investing to CFP's, CPA's, attorneys and insurance professionals. In addition, John is a frequent guest on various financial radio broadcast programs. Fisher Precious Metals is an A+ rated Accredited Business with the Better Business Bureau.

"It went great! We found Fisher Precious Metals on Angie's List, and after googling them, we found they had very positive reviews across the web. Although it was a 45 minute drive from our home, we felt it might be worth it, and it was. We made an appointment with John via email, arrived at 11:00, and spent just over an hour in his office. He evaluated the sterling silver set we had to sell and gave us what we felt was a very fair price. He'd given us an estimate on the value of the gold coins via email, and although the price of gold had fluctuated since he'd provided the quote, the final price was very, very close to the initial quote. We were happy to learn that they will also buy jewelry, as I have a few pieces I haven't worn in a very long time. We were very pleased with the entire experience and will definitely return to their company when we have gold or silver to sell, and we're happy to recommend them to our friends. One thing to keep in mind is that sterling silver sets are basically worth the price of the silver itself. We knew that going in, so we were not disappointed and, in fact, the price we received was a little higher than we'd expected."

Locally and Family owned - Timothy E. Quigley, owner and founder of TQ Diamonds, unknowingly began his career with a simple childlike fascination with rocks and minerals. He began gathering and collecting gemstones at the age of nine. His intense fascination with gemstones catapulted him towards his dream career. Tim entered the jewelry industry as a salesperson for a local jeweler in 1985. Two short years later, he opened the doors of TQ Diamonds. Tim's business philosophy is based on outstanding service and the finest quality products. As an independent jeweler, Tim feels he can offer his clients much more than other jewelry store chains. Therefore, he hand selects every diamond and precious gem he sells. In addition, Tim developed a keen eye and deep appreciation for custom designed jewelry. He knows his clients are looking for unique pieces of jewelry that express their thoughts and ideas. Tim has brought custom design to a new level with TQ Diamonds. TQ Diamond's creative team consists of designers/goldsmiths and 7 professional sales associates. TQ Diamonds’ knowledgeable staff encourages their clients to ask questions and to help create their own jewelry masterpieces from start to finish. TQ Diamonds - member of the AGS since 1999

"I have used their services several times at least and every time they broke the saying, "cheap, fast, good - pick any two." They are all three although good is quite an understatement. I have given them jewelry to repair 2-3 times and a medical alert lanyard to shorten and re-establish the magnetic end pieces and each time, they treated my little jobs as if I was their top customer... outstanding service and competence!"

1969 years of experience

The Jewelers Workshop started out as a mall cart on the UW Library Mall in Madison in 1969. Since then it has moved several times. We specialize in custom making jewelry exactly like our clients ask us to make it. We take their ideas, turn them into sketches, turn those sketches into wax models and then turn those models into jewelry. Our sales staff is non-commission based and our bench jewelers often talk directly with the clients to assure we have a firm understanding of their desires. If a client wants an idea our jewelers, our artists are always excited to come up with something new. The head of our repairs department, Johnny, has been with us for 30 years and is honest about what he can repair and also about what he should repair. Lately we have been working a lot with gold and gemstones that people bring in and want to fashion into new jewelry. This could include either grandma's diamond for a new wedding ring or jewelry that has been sitting in the back of a drawer for 10 years. We have a wide selection of diamonds and other gem stones but if we don't have it in stock, we are happy to order it for you. We do not limit ourselves to diamonds (or the expensive rocks). If you really want us to (and we judge it to be possible), we can fashion a rock you found onto a beach into jewelry. Thanks, Jason

"Horrible Customer Service. Didn't give us an itemized list of each item that was sold at the sale. Took 30 days to get a check. Didn't return calls, text or emails in a timely manner Didn't disclose an additional charge to take away items. Didn't take unsold items to Hospice gift shop as we requested. We felt he took advantage of our grief."

Antiques and Jewelry Appraisals questions, answered by experts

While a single shelf here and there doesn’t add value to your home, a built-in bookcase can increase your home’s value under the right circumstances. Not every built-in bookcase works in your favor here—those built from high-quality materials tend to provide a better ROI. If you’re looking for your bookcase to work for your home’s value, consider having a professional build it with luxury hardwood.

As a seller, it might feel tempting to skip the appraisal, especially in a hot market that sees a lot of all-cash offers. While you can technically forgo it and hope for an all-cash offer, you’ll likely have a very tough time selling without an appraisal.

In addition to protecting lenders from risk, appraisals also protect buyers’ investments. As such, it isn’t typically recommended for buyers to skip appraisals.

The cost to appraise a home depends on the type. Common types include:

  • Single-family homes: $300–$400

  • FHA or VA single-family homes: $400–$500

  • Condominium: $300–$500

  • Multi-family home: $500–$1,000

  • Apartment building: $1,500–$3,000

  • Commercial properties: $1,400–$10,000

  • Raw land: $1,000–$8,000

Some appraisers hold a Member of the Appraisal Institute designation. This accolade is the highest credential property appraisers can earn. An MAI appraisal is typically used for commercial properties.

While your lender will likely recommend an appraiser, you can also hire a professional home appraiser on your own. Choose someone who is experienced in your type of residential property, and ensure they hold all of the necessary credentials that your state or region requires.

In most cases, installing a tennis court on your property will drive up your property taxes. Property taxes are determined, in part, based on improvements made to your property, which includes anything with a permanent foundation. Since most home tennis courts include a large concrete foundation, your property taxes will likely increase following the installation. A general rule of thumb is that if your project requires permits—like for a foundation or fencing for a tennis court—then your property taxes will be affected.
