You can lay a refrigerator down to move it with a lot of padding underneath, but it’s best to transport it upright to keep the cooling refrigerant and compressor oil in place. These elements can cause blockages if not given time to settle before turning the fridge on. 

If you need to lay the fridge down to move it, position the fridge door hinges so that doors won’t open while moving.

Moving day for a four-bedroom house can take seven to 10 hours, with an additional four to six full work days to pack everything up. This will depend on how many movers are present, the square footage of your house, how much stuff you have, and any heavy or difficult-to-move items, like a piano or armoire.

It’s typically not advisable to move heavy furniture by yourself. However, if you are confident that you can do it safely, there are several different tools you can use, including a hand truck, a four-wheel dolly, or an appliance dolly. If you’re moving furniture upstairs or downstairs, a hand truck is the most suitable choice. Regardless of what you choose to use, always ensure that the furniture is well-balanced and secure by using lifting straps or tie-down straps to keep it in place.

To pack mugs securely for a move, start by lining the bottom of a moving box with padded packing material like bubble wrap. Wrap each mug individually, tucking the ends of the bubble wrap inside the mug for a snug fit. For extra protection, consider using a moving box with built-in slots to keep the mugs separated.

When placing the mugs in the box, pack them tightly enough to prevent them from shifting, but not so tightly that they are under pressure. Fill any empty gaps between the mugs with additional packing material. To keep the box from becoming too heavy, it's best to pack no more than 10 mugs per box. Finally, be sure to label the box as “fragile” so movers know to handle it with care.
