" Revved Up Tree Service was the first "Pro" to contact us and give us an estimate on our project of Trimming Tree Branches hanging over wires from pole to house and over the deck. Their estimate was the lowest of the four we got so we hired them. The day scheduled to work was cold and wet. Colby and Ben arrived on time, explained what they would do and checked with us to make sure it was what we wanted. They quickly and carefully trimmed the branches and cleaned up the debris. Their machines had made a rut in the soft wet dirt near the gate so they filled the rut with dirt and re-seeded it! Everyone we dealt with was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable about their work. They explained things to us and listened when we talked. We gave Revved Up Tree Service a 5 star rating because we felt they were that good. All together a pleasant experience! "

I've called and no one answers the phone. I've texted and received promises to finish the job, but no one shows upon the day promised, nor is there any action whatsoever. This is the first negative review I've listed in my life, but am terribly unsatisfied with the work, and angry that I paid in full for the job, but the company is completely unresponsive. I'd give a zero star rating."

Tree roots are hearty and complex systems, so they don’t die immediately after the rest of the tree is removed. If you leave the root system in place, it takes anywhere from two to seven years for it to run out of nutrients. It is worth noting, however, that the roots stop growing and expanding after cutting down the rest of the tree.

If it’s your property, then you can plant a tree near power lines, but it’s not the best idea. Any vegetation that grows within 10 feet or so of power lines will fall under the responsibility of the utility company, and they may trim or remove it as necessary. If you do move forward with your plan, try to choose a smaller ornamental tree, plant it as far away from the power lines as you can, and keep it trimmed to avoid future problems.

Trees don’t usually grow back after being cut down. Some particularly robust tree species may start sending up new stems from a stump to recover, but those stems won’t become a “tree” like before. Generally, trees don’t recover from being entirely cut down, which is why it’s important to be careful when making a decision. When you cut down a tree, it’s a good idea to make plans to remove the stump, even if it’s unlikely to grow back.

Late August, September, and mid-October are the ideal months for planting a young tree. However, the best time to plant a tree ultimately depends on when the weather transitions to fall-like conditions and eventually winter frost. As long as the hottest days of summer have passed and the ground hasn’t frozen yet, you can still successfully plant trees.

If you’re taking down a tree that you don’t suspect is affected by disease or pests and it’s nowhere near your home or other structures, then calling in a tree company should work fine. However, anything more involved means an arborist is a better option.
