"Half of a large oak tree came down in a storm. It took down part of a neighbor's tree and landed on the neighbor's shed (which was luckily not damaged). We decided to have the entire tree removed in the interest of safety. Octavio was great to work with. He did not try to take advantage of our emergency, coming in slightly lower than our second lowest bid. He scheduled our job within a few days and worked with WE Energies to disconnect both electrical services and reconnect upon completion. Put down boards and made every effort not to rut the yard in spite of recent rain. Carefully removed the tree from the neighbor's shed so as not to cause any further damage. Did a great job cleaning up and spreading topsoil. Crew was very professional."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Trees aren't big fans of moving, and they do go into shock during a transplant. Although most carefully thought-out tree transplants see the tree recover from the shock just fine, there is always a risk of having an unsuccessful move. Proper preparation, timing, and diligent aftercare are crucial to minimize the risks when transplanting a tree.

If you’re planning on keeping the tree, unless the roots are invasive, there’s no need to remove them, as doing so can cause damage to the tree. If the tree has been cut down and the stump and roots are left, grinding and removing the stump can cause root decay for some species. For other species, the stump and roots will need to be removed to prevent pests, disease, and possible tree regrowth.

Palm trees can live anywhere between 50 and 100 years on average, with some species living even longer. The exact lifespan of a palm tree depends on several factors such as size, species, growing conditions, maintenance, and environmental conditions. To maximize the lifespan of your palm, make sure it receives the proper amount of sunlight, water, and nutrients. You can also consult with a knowledgeable arborist for maintenance tips.

Cutting down a tree next to power lines is never a DIY job, and it’s a good idea to contact your utility company first. In most cases, the utility company will need to take care of any tree problems within 10 to 15 feet of power lines. If you want to remove the tree for aesthetic reasons, hire a pro to do the job. Trying to cut trees near power lines yourself can create many safety hazards, and you could be liable if you inadvertently cause damage to electrical equipment.

Using vinegar to kill tree roots is just one of the clever ways to use vinegar around the house. The method works best when you apply vinegar as directly to the root system as possible. For example, if the old tree roots and stump are currently exposed, drill holes in the tops of the roots and pour undiluted white vinegar into the holes to soak into the plant. Remember that vinegar can kill the surrounding grass and plants should it pour over the edge.
