"GREAT WARRANTY REPAIR SERVICES! Purchased $4,000 worth of vinyl flooring in 2017. Tenant in our duplex called and said the flooring was lifting up along a seam. Stopped at Stu's in Greenfield on Sunday and told them about it. Called Stu's on Monday and spoke with Dan, one of the owners. He said he would have a repairman out on Wednesday. Wednesday Tyler came out and fixed the problem - NO CHARGE! He said "Stu's just likes to keep our customers happy"! VERY HAPPY WITH THIS LEVEL OF SERVICE!"

I was trained as an apprentice in Germany after serving in the Army and continued in the trade after my return to the United States. I enjoy working with my customers from the beginning of the project to the end. I have years of experience and can help with any questions you have regarding various types of flooring. I accept cash or check payment upon completion. References and photos are available.

"John was extremely responsive (via email, easiest for me) and offered to do an in-home consultation about the work we needed done within 24 hours of the initial request for an estimate. That evening, John had provided an estimate, which was extremely competitive with the other estimates we had obtained from other contractors. John offered to help us shop for flooring and even offered a discount at a specific store, if we chose to shop there. The work was scheduled within 2 weeks (!) and 3 days later, our first floor looks entirely new - just what we were hoping for. Great work, reliable and trustworthy contractor. Would (and likely will) hire again!"

The difference between a 40-oz. and 60-oz. carpet is the carpet face weight, meaning the 60-oz. carpet weighs 20 ounces more per square yard. When looking at two similar carpets of the same material and type, the 60-oz. carpet face weight likely indicates higher quality and more durability due to heavier carpet fibers. 

Technically, you can install carpet without padding. While skipping the padding can help you save on the project, it will make the carpet less comfortable and show uneven spots or imperfections in the subfloor. Because carpet padding protects the back of the carpet from wear, a carpet without padding can wear out faster than one with it. Carpet padding also cuts down on noise, so forgoing it can affect the acoustics in the room.

If you don’t put padding under your carpet, the carpet won’t be protected from wear on the underside. This could result in a shorter life span for your carpet and increased carpet repair costs over time. An unpadded carpet can also be less comfortable to walk on, depending on your subfloor and the type of carpet.

Carpets in earthy, neutral shades should go with everything. Specifically, colors like beige, cream, and gray pair well with other neutrals and more vibrant colors. If you’re concerned about your carpet clashing with your walls or furniture, stay away from loud colors and complicated patterns, which could distract from the rest of your decor.

You may get better coverage painting your baseboards if you do so before carpet is installed. The best course of action may be to attempt to paint them between having the old floor removed and the new floor laid, though this will render the room unusable for a period of time and may make the entire project a bit slower overall.
