"Start to finish and at every step this is the Waterproofing company to use. After getting two very high bids from other Angies list waterproofers (who didn't ask many questions or even really look around) Brian (the owner) came by, asked diagnostic questions about the water seepage (when, how much, etc), went into the crawl and reported on the sump pump and well and the relative dryness of the crawl space, looked at the outside foundation, concluding I only need some foundation crack repair. The other two bids were 5500 and 6500 (wanted to do interior dig out and drain tile), while Brian's was a capped bid to fix any/all foundation cracks for no more than 500 total. I accepted the bid because Brian presents as a trustworthy man and he actually listened to what I was saying and treated my issues (how bad is it?) and concerns ($$$) with respect. A couple days later, Joey and Brian came to do the foundation repair, arriving exactly on time at 8 am and finished up by around 9:30 am. I was impressed because Brian showed Joey each foundation crack and hole we found – like he had actually made notes on the job. I had no doubt Brian and Joey had the situation under control - they're just completely solid, salt of the earth men - which I find reassuring. And they showed me how the filler worked, ran water to prove it held, and promised to come back if I had any more water problems. Brain charged me 400 (yes that’s 100 less than the bid) for the 5 cracks repaired -three being in the crawl which are slightly more expensive to fix. Meanwhile my boyfriend was walking around the house with Brian and decided to hire him for the foundation dig out, drain tile, pvc piping, french drain, gutter and sump pump tie in work. Brian's comments to me were that he really thought the interior crack fill was enough, but if you really really wanted to be absolutely sure that no water came into the house, then the dig out is the way to go - especially since the grade of the land near the foundation was sending water to the house rather than away (which was easy to see once it was pointed out). The price he quoted me was about one quarter of the other waterproofer bids. So we proceeded with that work. At 8 on Saturday (exactly on time) Brian and his crew arrived to do the work. Brian and I reviewed the work order, and he went over the details with the crew - adding in my last minute requests like would you consider pulling out those nasty overgrown shrubs ? Which Brian added in at a fraction of the cost I had already priced out with a couple landscaping companies. Miguel was the crew leader and he did a fantastic job on a very long day -- they worked from 8:30 am to 7:30 pm doing the foundation dig out and pipe laying and landscaping work - removing overgrown shrubs, planting new shrubs and perennials, laying in top soil, landscaping cloth and mulch. He also installed a short line of fencing for me that I bought off the shelf at Lowes. Importantly, the newly laid pvc to the pop up was so neatly dug and replanted that it was hard to see where the grass was dug up. Miguel's face was full of pride to be working with Brian and running the crew which I thought spoke well for the company... I’d rather do business with companies that value their employees. During that work day, Brian pointed out that the walkway to the front door had sunk about 3 inches (and I knew it was substantially tilted to one edge). I was not interested in pouring new concrete ($$$) but when the job was done the walkway stood out like a sore thumb. At the end of the work day, a member of Miguel's crew came up with a figure of 1200 (my impression was that Miguel was embarrassed to tell me the figure - but it did include 500 for dumpster rental for the broken concrete). When I told Brian that was too steep for me (considering all the other basement remodeling underway) he said he'd see about getting me a better price, and emailed me two days later with a bid for 750 including haul away. So the next Saturday Brian, Miguel and crew arrived and laid the concrete walkway, and installed drain tile and a separate pvc line for the driveway side gutter to it's own pop up. I asked Brian to inspect and possible replace a concrete slab at the walkout of the basement (this task added the night before by email). Brian looked at the slab and said would be included in the job at no extra cost. The front walkway alone was a yard and half of concrete which tells you what a good price Brian gave me. Meanwhile, Michael installed a marine battery back up and pump, and changed out the old accordion piping on the existing sump pump. Michael made sure I got the paperwork for the new pump and battery, and went over the details of the install. Again Brian said the marine backup was up to me – that the existing well and sump pump had 18 inches beyond it’s high water mark and that I could put off that purchase for several months (just do before you dry wall..). I wanted the marine backup done now because Glenview has lost power for days twice in the last month. Michael then started in on the 20 high 100 ft long hedge. This was the hot hot hot and humid Saturday of July 4th weekend so I wasn't surprised when the crew couldn't finish the hedge due to heat exhaustion – after working from 8 to 4:30. And hedge is an understatement - it was more like cutting down a row of trees - that's how over grown it was. Honestly it was the weather that did them in. Otherwise I’m sure they would have finished. Brian got the crew back to my house on Tuesday July 5 and they made short work of the hedge. To sum it up, Brian's company performed all of the work to a high standard of care, cleaned up, pointed out and fixed deficiencies that weren’t part of the work orders. Brian always either stopped by or called to make sure I was completely satisfied with the results. Even tho I ended up buying quite a few services it was because every job they did they did so well that it made me want to fix more. Finally to the women out there, there were many times Brian could have taken advantage of my lack of knowledge but he didn't - he continued to provide outstanding service, at a fantastic price - he's truly a gem. I recommend them whole heartedly."

"Good service in certain ways but brought me sofa full of fire ants and broken big screen TV. Their sales pitch claimed they own their fleet but all I saw were Ryder rental trucks. Only my initial deposit was paid directly to mayzlin. I can't get anybody on the phone to talk about broken TV."
