"We are very pleased with the overall experience with Tommy and his crew. They were prompt, polite, and showed attention to detail. We had our cedar sided cottage and outbuildings stained and sealed. Hello i just started my buisness in stanley wi klukas handyman services llc ive been in buisness for only a few month i can do almost everything besides messing with anything structural i ushally go by flat rates an i have contracts an will drive up to 50 miles from stanley wi you should hire me because im more affordable then most handyman aaround the area i also do scrap metal pick up that will fit in a 8 foot truck bed an plan on getting a pressure washer in the future

You can apply stain over peeling stain, but it’s not a good idea. Your old stain will get in the way of your new stain bonding to the wood, so you’re likely going to see the same issue again shortly after application. Your best option is to sand off the old stain and clean the surface thoroughly before applying new stain.

Applying a sealer or topcoat after staining wood is highly recommended, though not always strictly required. A sealer protects the wood from moisture, UV rays, and weather-related issues, which is especially important for outdoor surfaces like decks and fences. It also enhances the stain's durability, prevents fading over time, and gives the wood a cleaner, more professional-looking finish. For some indoor applications, a sealer may not be necessary, depending on the type of stain used and the level of protection needed. While power washing isn't a requirement before you stain a fence, it can make the job much easier and faster while reducing manual labor requirements. The stain will not work if the wood is full of dirt and dust, so power washing, sometimes called pressure washing, is a fast and effective way to prepare the wood for staining. Remember that you need to stain or repaint relatively soon after the wood has dried so that there isn’t time for dust and dirt to build up again.
