"The installer came to my house to measure all the windows before ordering the blinds.  Once the blinds were in stock, they came back to my house and installed them.  Both visits to my house went very well.  They were professional and did their work quickly.  The product we purchased was a bit expensive, but worth it.  After a year and a half, they look great and work great.

Small jobs welcome

"Brian and Kurt were great. We had our 30 + year old Anderson windows removed and replaced with new glass. This is much less expensive than a full window replacement, and is possible when the basic window frame is still in good condition. Super happy with the result."

Small jobs welcome

"Steve put in 2 brand new windows where there were no window before. He was professional and did a quality job. I couldnâ t be happier with his I work. He also installed 2 skylights for me at my previous home about 15 years ago and did a great job then too. That is why I chose him again. Very pleased with his work and would keep him in mind for any other projects in the future."

"We had this done several years ago. Compared to other window installers I had experienced in other houses, there was hardly any mess inside the house. They have kept our heating and cooling costs down. I did not feel pressure to purchase more than I needed at the time. I just finished washing them this spring and they are easy to clean even for a 75 year old. I also was glad to support Wisconsin products and workers."

"Mad City Windows installed two windows (one large picture window and a bedroom window) along with a new glass sliding door. The company was very easy to work with from start to finish! They were efficient and professional."

"We had 6 large windows replaced. Throughout the project, the communication was perfect. We had Brian and Luis install the windows. They were fantastic. They were very personable, communicated on any issues they saw during the install, and completed the entire project in one day. They were thorough and the windows look perfect. You can tell they take pride in their work. If you want windows installed without any issues, Weather Tight is easily the best choice."

"Did not recieve the estimate after the consultant arrived. When I called back received the estimate very quickly. However the estimate was over 20K for 15 plantation shutter windows which is about double any of the other estimates."

"We were fortunate to win 7 free windows from HomeSealed in a raffle at the Milwaukee NARI Home Show back in February. From beginning to end, all of the contacts we had - from the Office, to the Sales Rep, to the Project Manager & Installer - were all extremely professional and treated us like we were paying out-of-pocket to have our entire house done. The level of communication and correspondence were almost surprising compared to other contractors we've worked with. Following our raffle win, we were contacted within 3 days by the office and scheduled our first appointment with the sales rep. He came out exactly on time and walked us through the product we won as well as upgrade options (we added better insulation) and costs (disposal of windows containing lead) and was in/out within an hour. Following that meeting, office worked with us to schedule final measurement w/ Project Manager, who was also very prompt, polite and answered any questions we had. Explained exactly what would happen next & timing of steps very clearly. Had windows ordered, and within 6 weeks, was able to schedule installation date. Installation took 2 days total - 1 for pocket window replacement, 1 for trim & sealing exterior. New windows look great, upstairs is much quieter and we are looking forward to seeing how much energy we are able to save this summer! Would highly recommend to anyone considering a window project!"

Window Shutters questions, answered by experts

The average shutter is designed to last 20 to 25 years. Proper maintenance for the type of shutters you have is essential for helping them reach their full potential.

The most popular estate shutter brands include Hunter Douglas, Budget Blinds®, and Graber®. Hunter Douglas shutters cost $20 to $26 per square foot and include high-quality hardwood and faux wood options. Budget Blinds shutters cost $20 to $24 per square foot, depending on if you choose natural wood or another material. Depending on the material, Graber shutters range from $18 to $24 per square foot.

Shutters are still very common in Southern, farmhouse, and traditional-style homes, especially those in warm climates who can benefit from the increased efficiency. While modern homes and designs tend to shy away from shutters, shutters are a timeless design style that will likely be around for decades to come.

Wood is the most classic shutter material. Common options include pine, cedar, or brasswood. MDF shutters are also a more affordable option that retains the timeless, classic look. Composite shutters, mainly vinyl and aluminum shutters, have also become more popular over the years. You may also find steel shutters, sometimes referred to as security shutters, used on the exterior. Shutters also come in various colors and finishes, adding another layer of design flexibility.

Estate shutters offer more energy efficiency, privacy, and light control than blinds. They provide better insulation against heat and cold, lowering your energy bills. They’re also sturdy, durable, and last much longer than blinds (up to 50 years or longer). They’re also low-maintenance and can add curb appeal to your home. The return on investment (ROI) for estate shutters is around 75%.
