"h got the job done within a narrow window of time between the rain and their other projects. Though our project was small , they did it anyway. The only question we have is why they didn't install the border liner like they said they would. Don't know if they are done or not. We paid half done but haven't received a bill yet."

Warm-season grasses like bermuda and zoysia grass don't curl as much, so grass stripes aren't as easy to see. If you live in a climate that’s better suited for warm-season grass, zoysia grass will typically be your best option.

While hydroseeding is designed for bare soil, it is possible to apply it over an existing lawn with certain adjustments. For the new seed to be successful, it needs good seed-to-soil contact to germinate and take root. Without proper preparation, most of the new seed will fail to establish and will die. To hydroseed over existing grass, first mow the lawn as low as possible, then loosen and clear any exposed soil. It is also recommended to use a finer mulch mixture in the hydroseed spray, which helps the seeds penetrate the existing turf and reach the soil without suffocating the established grass.

If you use a starter fertilizer designed for this purpose, you can overseed and fertilize at the same time. Ideally, you’ll want to aerate your lawn at least once per year during the growing season—think late summer to early fall. 

Planting grass from seed requires time to grow before it can handle even light foot traffic. Most varieties require a minimum of three months before you can walk on them regularly. You can expect to wait at least one year before your lawn can hold up to heavy use. Because sod is already established, it can be walked on more quickly than grass planted from seed.
