I specialize in int/ext painting as well as work on decks, staining, and refinishing furniture. I refinish floors and interior woodwork. I do general handyman work including hanging doors and trim, patching drywall, installing railings, some light concrete work, caulking, etc. I am highly detail oriented and have a wide range of experience including working at high end galleries in New York City. I work with clients to ensure quality and needs on a personal level. I generally work alone but at times hire a sub-contractor to facilitate floor refinishing. I am willing to work with a variety of schedules and make my own so happy to accommodate client needs.

I am a general contractor with 22 years of experience. I don't just do it all I do it all WELL, and I take my time to make sure that the customer is happy with the end result. I generally work on a half down, half when the job is completed basis, but I will look at each situation individually and determine what is fair to the customer.

Pavers and Hardscaping questions, answered by experts

In most cases, you don’t need a permit to repave your driveway, although some exceptions exist. If you’re widening your driveway and plan on widening the apron as well, you’ll usually need a permit from the Department of Transportation in your area. This permit costs between $50 and $300 in most cases. Most municipalities will also require a certified and insured contractor do the work relating to the apron and curb cut. You can contact your building department or ask your paving company if you need a permit. Your driveway professional will usually pull the permit for you.

Yes, professionals bring expertise, proper tools, and knowledge of best practices, ensuring flawless installation and longevity for the paved area.

Pavers are durable, versatile, and low maintenance. They resist cracking and can be replaced individually if damaged.

Pea gravel can be used as a base for a paver patio, but it’s not the preferred choice. Because it is small and round, pea gravel moves much more easily than other base options, like crushed stone, so it won’t keep your pavers in place properly.

If you do opt for pea gravel, compact it well and use an additional binding agent (like stone dust) to keep everything from shifting.

There should be a 1-inch thick layer of sand underneath your pavers in order to provide a proper base.
