Okay, in 2015 I had several people come out to give me bids on what to do as I am undecided. I'm a pretty particularly perfectionist guy that's hard to please. I chose Dustin in 2016 and he came and performed the whole thing with a lot of effort. Not everything is perfect in the world, neither are the employees that you get for construction wages, but Mr. Hamland made up for those slights and did an incredible job. Today i was thinking about doing some other landscaping work and thought of Dustin, then realized that I had not written a review. My apologies for a belated thumbs up. Nice guy, gets it done, He's honest.

Stamping job was poorly done, so poorly that they had to tear out the front walkway and redo it because even Dustin could not deny how sloppy it was. He felt like that was enough even though the stamping in the back was rough and barely even there in some places. There was a six inch gouge in one prominent spot where someone scratched the wet cement. There are dips in the level of the concrete that retain water. There is a spot where it looks like they broke a corner off when they removed the mold and so the aggregate is exposed on the surface there in stark contrast to the stained concrete nearby. In other places they scratched out the pattern because he said it is too hard to get close to the wall, he always had an excuse for the bad craftsman ship but what it comes down to it that the work was not well executed. On top of that he went out of his way to try to say I just did not understand the complexities of the concrete business, like I have never seen finished concrete before. He also kept trying to pretend like sealing it would magically make the bad work disappear, as opposed to sealing them in so I had no options for fixing it. In the end the plain concrete was fine but do not trust him to do any stamping, his work is not reliable. This was extra frustration because he was 1000 more than the other bid I got and I thought that by going with the pricier option I would avoid a mess like this.

As discussed prior with you, decorative concrete is an art of dealing with an imperfect material in an imperfect environment that does not result in 100% uniformity. We know that concrete is an expensive investment and the replacement for the front stamped concrete work was an attempt to address your concerns over the natural imperfections you identified with the concrete. Upon replacing the front walk we received an email stating "The front looks much better thank you," thus we were under the understanding you were satisfied. As discussed, cleaning and sealing the stamped concrete provides a more finished look that you are not otherwise able to appreciate when unfinished (as seen in your pictures). We do believe you would have had a different experience had we been allowed to complete the job in its entirely and apologize that the results did not meet your expectations. They did an excellent job, and were able to get it done in record time. All other companies were several weeks, or even months out. Maybe I just got lucky. Dustin and his crew demolished the old sidewalk running down the side of the house between the house and fence, and replaced it with fresh concrete anchored to the foundation to correct the slope. They also filled a foundation crack under one of my vents. All work had to be done by hand, with wheelbarrows because of the lack of truck access.

Dustin was responsive and professional throughout the project. He responded quickly to my initial contact, and was excellent at communicating with me as things moved along. The work looks great, and I could not be more pleased. I will use him again for similar projects in the future.

Amazing!!! Hamland Construction - Dustin specifically - was awesome. When he first reviewed the project I was sure he would not take it on. But lucky for me he did!! When Dustin said his crew would be at the house at a certain time, they were, not a minute late!! He kept me informed as to the progress and status. He answered my questions like I actually had a right to ask, he was great. I wish I had hired him the first time!! HIs crew was great. They all worked hard while on the job site. HIs main worker- Dave - was very neat and tidy on the job. He ensured the crew cleaned up and tidied up the job every night. I would hire Hamland Construction again without any hesitation. They are professional, timely, and honest. A breath of fresh air in the contractor world! Thank you Hamland Construction!

Dustin and his staff were fantastic. I've never had a contractor communicate like Dustin. If you call him, he either answers right away or calls you back within minutes. Additionally, when he did our job, we were his priority. His crew showed up to work everyday and constantly asked for our feedback to make sure we were happy. During the final walk through, Dustin was very picky about how things looked. He fixed things that we hadn't even noticed. I would completely recommend Dustin and his crew! Very happy!

Dustin and Dave came out the next day to begin the work. Dustin had other jobs going on so Dave was left on his own to finish the job. I couldn't be more pleased. Dave is a true craftsman. The quality of his work is superior. He even made sure the flowerbed that had to be disturbed was put back the way it was. Every day he made sure there was no mess left behind, ever. He was friendly and polite and one of the most hard working men I have ever met. I highly recommend this company.

The window wells on my 1940s house were in disrepair. He went above and beyond to replace the ones that were beyond repair, and patch the ones that were salvageable. He was honest and answered all my questions, and engineered one window well to be much stronger than the original. I expect it to last another 70 years.
He also went above and beyond the call of duty and brought additional topsoil to shore up the beds around the window wells. He wanted to make sure everything was done the right way. He also repaired cracks in my irrigation headgate for minimal cost. Honest and hardworking. Highly recommend using Hamland for anything concrete! Thanks, Dustin.

"Thank you for the review, the company wouldn't exist without great people to work for. Great job with good timing. The clients left for a trip with a set of steps that “smiled” (sagged in the middle) at them as they left. They returned to 5 even steps that were a little smaller in height because we added one additional step. The stone buttresses on the sides with cap were redone. We also added footings and re-bar reinforcing. (historical district)"

"Thank you for taking the time to review our company. This is how we grow and better serve our past and future clients. Unfortunately there are a few items that need to be cleared up. The client requested a different finish after the concrete patio was installed. At that time we had two third party resurfacing companies to look at the concrete patio, each giving a bid in writing to grind off the surface and install a new desired finish, the client chose the company they liked best. The resurfacing company gave us a written warranty against any flaking and peeling. After the patio did flake and peel, the resurfacing company wouldn't honor their written warranty. With Hamland Construction Company holding the contract with the resurfacer, we are responsible for our subcontractors. The patio was not paid for and we also gave the client additional money so that the concrete slab could be replaced. "Thank you for the review, this was an interesting project. On the surface this was just a sidewalk installation project, with a step. The sidewalk was installed between the house and a garage witch if installed in a regular straight fashion, could've amounted to water inside of the garage or in the house."

The provider performed the service a bit later in the month than originally promised. That was understandable, though, because we were having such a nice stretch of weather and he was trying to get all the rest of his concrete projects done. The owner/provider was extremely pleasant to work with, and he did an excellent job on filling in the gap that we had. We are planning on using this provider again next spring, on a sidewalk replacement.

Great design and quality.?Stunningly sharp looking. Dustin was very good at communication. He was professional, patient, and willing to share knowledge. The price includes lawn/sprinkler system recovery and a service door threshold shaping. Among three bids, his design was the best. The project run smoothly. The price, considering the amount of work, was also the best. On time and reliable. I can't be happier. For major project like this, you have to use Hamland Construction!
