"Jamison and Christina did a fabulous job clearing my woods and yard of years of accumulation of leaves and needles. It was a huge job. My place looks amazing and all the debris was hauled off property. CJ cleared my roof of so many leaves and needles! Hard work and good spirits were necessary to get this job done. Thank you!"

Small jobs welcome

I have spent the last few years working for a couple of the larger garbage collection companies in the Madison area. I enjoy the work, and decided to go out on my own and bet on myself rather than depending on someone else. Evamsville Junk Removal is a true family run business; my wife assists me with the business side, and my son assists me on site when he is not in school.

"The services are fine. It's the first time I've used anything like that, so I don't know how to compare it but they are very friendly, they call before they come, they tell you what they are going to do and they ask you if you have any other concerns like if the dogs are going to be out. They are always very communicative. They come when they say they are going to come and they call first the day before."

Leaf Removal questions, answered by experts

While the EPA provides guidelines for homeowners to perform DIY lead paint removal, it is a risky process and generally not recommended due to serious health risks and strict regulatory requirements. The process requires precise safety precautions, such as wearing a respirator and protective eyeglasses, creating sealed exits, and using a HEPA vacuum for cleanup. To ensure the job is done safely, effectively, and in compliance with regulations, it is highly recommended to hire a professional lead abatement company. Certified professionals have the necessary training, experience, and specialized equipment (like chemical strippers and HEPA vacuums) to handle and dispose of hazardous materials safely.

Lead toxicity comes from inhaling lead or consuming it. Before the 1980s, when the government banned lead from consumer use, it could be found in paint, plumbing, pipes, ceramics, and even gasoline. Lead paint is toxic for the same reason lead itself is toxic, which is why lead poisoning from paint presents the same as lead poisoning from water or food sources, with a slight increase in respiratory symptoms vs. digestive symptoms. Lead paint is most dangerous when it’s old and peeling, cracking, or otherwise disturbed. This increases the concentration in the air and, therefore, in breathable air.

If your roof was constructed between 1930 and 1970, there’s a possibility that the shingles contain asbestos. If that’s the case, you should hire a professional for repairs and replacement, as they’ll have the necessary equipment to stay safe from such a hazardous and cancer-causing substance. If your home was constructed after this period, it’s unlikely that the shingles in place are toxic. In most cases, asbestos shingles are not recyclable, while standard asphalt shingles are recyclable.

Hazardous waste is waste that poses a threat to human or environmental health. This generally refers to waste that is flammable, corrosive, toxic, or reactive. To confirm if the waste you need to remove is considered hazardous waste, contact your local hazardous waste facility.

The EPA enforces hazardous waste laws and ensures people dispose of their hazardous waste responsibly. Depending on where you live, your state’s hazardous waste regulatory agency may also enforce these laws. Individually, it’s up to each household to properly dispose of their hazardous waste.
