"My house sits next to a sensitive nature area so I want to get my second story deck permitted and done right. For months I couldn't find a contractor that is willing to follow the rules and do it right. Some didn't even bother showing up. . . . until Tom decided to take on the challenge. He helped me navigate the City of Sammamish permitting, surveying and engineering process. Lots of patience with me and with the city. Once the permit was issued, the execution was flawless. Great quality of work. Our previous dilapidated deck was an eye sore and a danger for the past 3 years of us owning the home. It took Tom, Mike and his crew only one week to transform it into a deck that we love (not exaggerating but the day they wrecked the old deck was simply cathartic and therapeutic to me). I'm highly recommending Eastside Fence and Deck."

We discovered the Solatube brand product through a kitchen remodel and ordered one from the manufacturer, Solatube International, in California. We then proceeded to bring the distribution of Solatube skylights to the state of Washington. Our mission from the beginning was to sell a quality product, at a reasonable price, delivered with great service. We are all about taking care of our customers, we love them and they love the bright light from the Solatube skylight! We have dealers set up throughout the State of Washington. We sell the Solatube installed and as DIY kits to homeowners and also distribute to contractors, roofers and other businesses. Family owned business.

He did a great job keeping the existing room clean and free from debris. We are very pleased with the photovoltaic night light. Wasn't sure if we would like it but we do. The only part we are disappointed with is WHY DIDN'T WE DO THIS SOONER. We plan to add more lights in other areas in the future. We both highly recommend the product and the folks at Northwest Natural Lighting."

You can take a few steps to prolong the life of your holiday lights. Make sure to replace burnt-out bulbs as quickly as possible to avoid overloading the rest of the circuit and knocking out more lights. Before packing them up each year, plug each strand into the wall to confirm everything is still working. Wrap the lights carefully back into their original packaging or something similar—winding a strand tightly together or leaving it to hang loose in a storage bin can lead to frayed or damaged wiring. 

The requirements for outdoor lighting will vary depending on the type of light, where it’s located on the exterior of your home, and your local electrical code. Lights that come into contact with water (i.e. pool lights) will need to be on a GFCI, for instance. That being said, it’s safest to have any outdoor light on GFCI because of the risk of moisture. While wet-rated and damp-rated lighting is designed to handle contact with moisture, there’s a difference between the two. Wet-rated lighting is safety-rated to be placed in areas with direct exposure to water, including your shower. Fixtures classed as wet-rated are made with waterproof seals to protect the filament and other electrical components from water and moisture. 

Damp-rated fixtures can be used in places with some moisture contact, but not direct exposure. They don’t have the same waterproof seals used in wet-rated fixtures. Damp-rated lighting can be used on your bathroom ceiling or along a wall outside of your shower.

The largest cost factors include the type of pool light, the number of pool lights needed, and the labor costs in your location. But additional cost factors include work required on existing wiring, other repairs, and the continual maintenance needed to keep your pool light in good working condition after installation.
