"JLB also fixed a botched leveling job on our basement floor, put in new flooring in our basement hallway and bedroom, and coordinated new tiling in the bathroom. JLB replaced trim downstairs and upstairs. The work was excellent, the owner and contractor, Jessie Brown was very nice and professional, and he was very accommodating in working with our schedule. I would definitely hire JLB again and recommend JLB to others!"

"We hired Helping Hand 509 to mount a tv above our fireplace. Sounds simple but our fireplace wall is finished in Granite tiles! Travis did a fantastic job! He communicated well before, during and after the installation so we felt secure throughout the entire process. He was professional and respectful of our home, even carefully cleaning his work area and the tv screen when he finished. We’ll be hiring Travis in the future for any projects we have at home and our business."

"I recently hired Brandon at Tiny Cottage Builders to install a garbage disposal in my kitchen, and I couldn't be happier with him and his service, from start to finish, he was professional, friendly, and efficient. When I first received a call from Tiny Cottage Builders and I inquired about his services, he was incredibly helpful and patient. He answered all of my questions and gave me a clear idea of what to expect. He gave me an estimate of cost so that I could budget accordingly. On the day of the installation, he arrived right on time and got to work right away. He was respectful of my home and took care to clean up after himself. He completed the installation efficiently, and made sure to test the garbage disposal thoroughly before leaving. Overall, I was impressed with Tiny Cottage Builders' customer service and the quality of his work. I would highly recommend him to anyone in need of plumbing services, or any handyman job that you have Thanks again for a job well done! Bob Harris"

"Sesar Flores of In and Out Home Services called us immediately after I completed an online search for landscaping services. He made himself available to meet me to evaluate the designated large property for major weed removal from multiple large raised beds, clean up and mowing the back yard and removal of the existing poor front lawn and replacing it with sod, and assistance with our damaged sprinkler control center. He provided us with a written estimate that we felt was more than fair for the required work. They did a beautiful job in every area of the services provided and completed the work within the estimated time frame. Sesar followed up with us to review the completed work and to assure our satisfaction. We are so grateful to now have Sesar and his In and Out Home Services on our team!!!"

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

One of the best ways to know your chimney is good to go on any given night is to simply look up into your flue with a flashlight. If you see a thick buildup of creosote—a shiny, dark substance that looks like tar—it’s best to have your fireplace professionally cleaned before you go ahead with the burn. Additionally, having your fireplace professionally inspected once per year can also help increase your peace of mind and keep your family and your home safe.

You should never block both the top and bottom of your chimney. Proper airflow is essential because the temperature inside the chimney will still fluctuate as your house warms and cools. Moisture can build up without ventilation, leading to dampness in your walls over time. Blocking the top prevents debris and animals from entering, but the chimney still needs air circulation to avoid condensation issues. Allowing the chimney to breathe maintains the health of your home and prevents long-term damage.

Homeowners insurance can be voided in several scenarios. That can include making too many claims in a short period of time, leaving a home vacant for an extended period of time, renting out a home or room illegally, using a home as a business illegally, and any kind of criminal activity connected to the home.

Most installations take 1-3 days, depending on system complexity and building size.

While a hot fire can help heat up and loosen tar within your chimney, making it a recommended step before using a creosote log, it will not burn off significant existing buildup on its own. Attempting to remove built-up creosote with a hot fire is dangerous and can cause a chimney fire. For safe and effective removal of caked-on creosote, the best approach is to hire a professional chimney sweep.
