"K & B Solutions from Bremerton remodeled our kitchen and master bathroom. We liked K & Bâ s firm bid that was so reasonable. This company has, without a doubt, the best craftsmen, and weâ ve had lots of contractors work on our houses over the years. Their work is unbelievable! Bill can fix anything!! They were in our home for quite a while, and we were comfortable leaving them here while we were gone. We could not recommend them more highly. And one additional note â in the following months a couple little things have popped up, and Bill is right back to ensure we are completely satisfied. Yes, they are backed up with work, but WELL WORTH the wait."

"Subject: Outstanding Roof Repair Service by Northwest Builders & Renovation I recently had a fantastic experience with Northwest Builders & Renovation during a roof repair project. Their project manager, Tom, and production manager, Ben, were exceptional. Tom's prompt evening inspection on the same day we reported a leak showcased their commitment to customer satisfaction. The next day, Tom and Ben's team, including roofer Israel, swiftly addressed the issue, preventing potential major damage from ice dams and adverse weather. Ben and Tom's hands-on approach ensured the roofers, led by Israel, had everything they needed, guaranteeing the project's high standards. The use of HDZ Shingles and Ice & Water Shield protected our roof effectively. I highly recommend Northwest Builders & Renovation for their professionalism, efficiency, and outstanding work. Thank you, Tom, Ben, and Israel, for a job well done!"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Some painters will repair minor drywall damage. For repair work of any kind, it’s a good idea to hire the professional required for the job. Many painters will have the materials on hand and can add them to the total cost. While you may save some money, there is a chance the work will be subpar compared to a professional who specializes in drywall.

If you plan on heating your garage, you must install a vapor barrier when drywalling the garage. A vapor barrier protects your garage from frost and mold that can occur through condensation. If your garage is unheated, you don't need to install a vapor barrier. The only exception is if you regularly crank the heat in your car before getting in it. In this case, you may still want to install a vapor barrier, as your car can heat your garage.

The cost to install drywall is between $1.50 and $3 per square foot, while shiplap installation costs between $2 and $7 on average. In most applications, shiplap installations cost more than that of putting in drywall. However, several ways exist to reduce shiplap prices, especially for small locations or accent walls, which can keep the total cost of shiplap competitive with that of drywall.

There are several things you should not do when installing drywall. Common mistakes include: adding too many screws, over-sanding, not adding backing support, and installing drywall unevenly. You also should avoid screwing into the same place twice, installing Sheetrock with tapered edges on the outside, and making too many joints.

Yes, it is possible to rewire a house without removing the drywall, but this doesn’t work in all homes. You can pull out old wires and insert new ones if you have access to the wiring system via the ceiling or through a crawl space. Some pros can also use a magnetic kit to fish the old wire out of the wall through a hole cavity and install the new wires. Just keep in mind that doing this is less stable than removing drywall, as you won’t be able to staple the wires into the framing.
