"I was having a terrible morning. Took my mom to the doctor and locked my keys in the car. After determining there was no one available to bring the spare, I called Houdini locksmith. He said it'd be about a half hour and would call when he was on the way. Sure enough, 25 minutes later he called and 5 minutes after that he arrived. He had a great attitude, we joked around a bit, but he maintained the perfect balance between friendliness and professionalism. It didn't cost as much as I'd feared and when I left he was helping the lady parked beside me to get her car started. I would definitely call them again if needed."

A deadbolt has a different design, construction, and security level than a regular lock. Regular locks are mostly used for interior doors around the home, like bedrooms and bathrooms, and they usually include a locking mechanism on the inside. While regular locks are easy to use and install, they provide little security. 

A deadbolt adds a layer of security and is most commonly used on exterior doors. The installation is typically more complicated, but they hold up to wear and tear.

There are several ways to add security to a sliding glass door. To start, install a rod or deadbolt lock instead of the flip-lock that comes standard with most sliding glass doors. Add a sensor to the door and monitor any activity through your home security system.

Finally, installing shatterproof window film will help keep the structural integrity of the glass if it cracks.

The good news is that, yes, you can change locks yourself. Many people find it’s an easy DIY project that requires few tools and not much expense (depending on which lock you’re installing). If you have trouble with any part of an installation, you can always call a locksmith to help finish installing them.

The cost to rekey locks on your home is $40 to $100 plus $15 to $40 per lock. Rekeying means you can keep your existing locks but simply change the key. You’ll still need a pro to cut a new key and rekey the lock, but no new hardware is required. Rekeying is a good option if:
