"Jeff was supposed to come out in Sunday and said he would arrive at a specific time. He no showed I had to call him multiple times and he said eventually he couldn’t make it and would schedule me for the next day at 9am. I waited until 9:15am, called Jeff and he claimed to be in traffic but on the way. He was rude and hung up. I called again at 10:30 and he said he was just running late. He no showed and by 11:30 he didn’t even answer my texts or calls. I told him it was an emergency and he assured me when I initially contacted him that he could come out but he never did. I had a fridge and freezer out that was left out for two days because of his lack of communication I could have scheduled any other electrician or handyman that could have come out onsite instead of him, but he kept assuring me he would be there. Absolutely unprofessional and rude person. Would never recommend him to anyone."

"I hired Joel and his company to install an overhead hood in our kitchen. He ended up drilling an extra hole in the flange of the hood to attach it to the ceiling because he did not have enough wood to attach to the ceiling as a mounting point for the hood. The orientation of the hood was slightly tilted as a result. Furthermore, his people cut through 80% of one of the joists in the ceiling to route the ducting to go outside and did not reinforce the joist afterwards. When I pointed out these issues, he asked me for an additional $310 to the $1210 I already paid for the service to rectify these problems his team caused. I refused and decided to have another contractor do the job correctly. Absolutely do not recommend."

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

While textured walls can elevate a space in many ways, there are a couple of downsides to consider. Namely, they’re hard to clean, and some textures fall out of fashion quickly. Make sure to consider all your options to find one you truly love before diving in.

The color of the paint, its opacity, and the depth of the texture on the paper all affect how many coats of paint you need to apply to paintable wallpaper. You'll need at least two coats of paint to ensure even coverage. Don’t be surprised if you need to apply three coats if the embossing is very deep or if you use a dark color.

While it is possible to paint over wallpaper, it’s not always ideal. If the wallpaper is firmly adhered, has no bubbling or peeling, and isn’t textured, you can try to prime and paint over it. Use an oil-based primer to prevent the adhesive from bleeding through. However, if the paper is damaged or loose, removal is the better long-term solution.

One of the biggest downsides to peel-and-stick wallpaper is that it doesn’t last quite as long as traditional wallpaper. The life span of peel-and-stick wallpaper is about five years, depending on the quality of the wallpaper and how well you prep the wall before applying. The good news is that, because of its shorter lifespan, peel-and-stick wallpaper is a great choice for people who enjoy switching up their interiors more frequently.

Walls should be as smooth as possible before applying peel-and-stick wallpaper. Although you technically can apply wallpaper on textured walls, the peel-and-stick variety won’t last long without a clean, smooth surface for the adhesive to stick to. If you have textured walls, consult a pro about removing the textured finish before moving forward with wallpaper.
