Ben and his brother stopped by before the job to answer some questions. Very nice, personable folks. After roofing was completed they arrived to install the gutters. I had already removed our old gutters and their job didn't take long - straight runs, nothing fancy. They asked if the small shed attached to the house was to have a gutter. Although it was also re-roofed, I was uncertain about the gutter. I assumed it was included since it had one originally. (Maybe the contractor didn't notice, focusing only on the house?) Ben offered to put the gutter in even though he didn't think it was in the contract, but there was a little prep to do (cutting a piece of trim) before the gutter would fit. I was also painting the house and noticed after they had left that two screws had missed the rafter tails. Ben said that they would be out to fix that and put in the short gutter section after I did the prep. Very small job. When I finished my part I contacted them and Ben said they would be out the next day. After some reminding, they showed up a week later. The screws were re-set, but they brought the wrong gutter metal. No problem: they put me on the schedule for the first week of October. Here we are 2 weeks later and they never came. It's OK. I give up. This is not a huge negative for RGP, especially if it was not even in the contract. Just a bit annoying to have a promise not delivered. The good: Very neat work with the downspout standing off from the trim about 5/8-inch. No more moisture collection behind the downspout. The OK: The gutters do what they are supposed to do. But don't believe the song that all gutter contractors give about sloping toward the downspout by about 1/2-in per 10 feet. If you want that, you will have to do it yourself. RGP eyeballed it and the only run I inspected after a rain was 3/4-in deep in water at the wrong end. Still, when it rains most of it drains and I doubt any other contractor would have done better. On balance, I would still recommend them to anyone. Called three plumbers listed on Angie's list for an estimate. The other two provided a estimate over the phone, but Benjamin wanted to come out. They initially told me that the estimate was free, but there was going to be a $59 service call charge. I told them nevermind, and then they quickly waived it. Using coupons offered here, I had an estimate from Freedom Plumbing of $1,531. The other estimate was $1,850. I was surprised that it cost so much to replace a water heater, I was thinking that it would be in the $700 range. I received a call the next morning from Benjamin Plumbing telling me that Jeff was on his way and he arrived right on time. He looked at the water heater and said that it was a goner. He then ask to look at the other water heater in the attic. I showed it to him as well, even though it worked fine. He worked his numbers and told me his price was $1,800 for the bad water heater and "suggested that I also replace the working heater for a 10% discount, since they were the same age. I declined his offer of the replacing the second and told him that I had an estimate for $1,531 for the other. He went to his truck and talked to the boss and came back with a final number of $1,610. I told him that he was still high, but then he told me that nobodies warranty would beat theirs, seven years on material, parts and labor. I called Freedom to see what theirs was and they told me thirty days on labor. I decided that it was worth it and told jeff to proceed. While he was waiting for the new tank to be delivered, i showed him an A/C that was draining into the pan and ask him how much it would cost to fix that. He replied that if it was just blowing out the drain line he would do it for free, which he did. I then showed him a toilet that was slow to flush. He said it needed all new interior parts and snaked for a partial clog. The price of $189 for a new fill valve, flapper and snake was high, but since it has been that way so long and he was here, I agreed. Job was done quickly and professional. Just watch the upcharging and have a competitive bid to compare. French Drain Service reviews from real Angi homeowners in Port Angeles, WA
This is the second time we have used them. The first time was just for a simple haul away of tree trimmings. After having a new wall installed in spring, we didn't know that those contractors had removed a French drain, and when we called them, they were very unresponsive. We didn't realize...

I was soooo nervous when my sewer line backed up. I'd had something like this happen recently at a rental unit in Las Vegas and got charged $2700 so, I was braced for the worst news possible. Although the scenario was the same (tree roots in the line), the amount quoted was so much less...

FAQs for french drain service projects in Port Angeles, WA
Landscapers typically charge $25 to $50 per person per hour, which equals around $50 to $100 per hour for a two-person crew. These rates can vary depending on your location, the size of staff needed for the job, and overall job type. For example, a larger crew will be needed for structural additions and hardscaping versus planting flowers.
When it comes to landscapers, licensing laws vary. Landscaping architects are required to be licensed in all 50 states, whereas traditional landscaping contractors are not typically required to hold a certification. You’ll likely be working with a landscaping contractor for most residential projects. If you are redesigning your whole yard or adding in hardscape features, you will work with a landscaping architect at some point during the project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local landscaper guidelines.

Some cost factors that influence your project price include the type of drain, the area’s accessibility, the proximity of existing drain lines, and whether you’re installing a new drain or replacing an old one. Yes, most states require plumbers to be licensed, and for good reason. Hiring an unlicensed plumber could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.

We highly recommend leaving the work of replacing drain pipes to a professional plumber. Drain pipes are a key part of your plumbing system, and making mistakes during the installation or even using the wrong size pipes for your specific fixture can lead to an elevated risk of leaks and clogs. Additionally, drain pipes prevent harmful sewer gas from entering your home, so hiring a professional plumber is essential to keeping the risk of leaks and clogs low and avoid reducing your indoor air quality.
