"My roof & gutters hadn't been cleaned for well over a year & I live beneath huge pine trees, fir trees, a variety of willows, a towering maple & bushes that have overgrown the eaves. There was thick moss on the composite shingles & little trees growing out of the packed gutters. I found these guys on Angie's list, he came over on the same day I called, we did a walk around the house & he was able to schedule the job in only 2 days. They went way above & beyond my expectations doing a very thorough job, even cut my trees & bushes way back then power-washed around the entire house including the deck & driveways & disposed of the debris. It took the better part of a day (he didn't rush to get it done) & the charges were way more than reasonable (and didn't collect until he knew I was satisfied). I really recommend them & will certainly be using them again in the future"

"I purchased an 8 hour angies list deal and scheduled the service soon after.  Company requested I give them a list of things to be done which I did.  Crew of 2 arrived at 9am and started working.  Later on, I saw them struggling with equipment by their truck and went out to see if everything was ok.  They had some issues with a trimmer that seemed to take a while to resolve and phone calls to hq.  This tied up both of them for quite a while.  At this time I also gave them a check for the tax as they collect taxes in addition to the special deal purchase.  They made it through most of the todo list, but missed a couple of the items.  By about 12:15pm they had left.
They didn't notify me when they were done which I thought was odd.  My lawn and area looked good and they worked hard when they were working, but given that they left earlier than expected and time was spent dealing with equipment failure, they probably were working for about 3 hours or so each.  Since it's a crew of 2, I got about 6 1/2 hours of work for the 8 I paid.  They did good work but I feel that I overpaid for it at nearly $400.
After the service, there was some confusion about the sales tax.  After emails back and forth I had to keep insisting that they inquire with the crew as I physically handed them the check.  Finally, they found it but I am not sure why they didn't just believe me in the first place that the check was with the crew.

Garbage Collection questions, answered by experts

On average, a garbage disposal can last anywhere from 7 to 12 years, with many models functioning well for about 10 years. With heavy usage, a motor may last a minimum of five years, while grinding plates will wear down over time. It's generally a good idea to consider a replacement if your unit is approaching the 10-year mark. Other signs that it's time for a new disposal include frequent leaks, persistent clogs, lingering odors, lack of power, or unusual noises. If your unit is not that old, it's worth investigating if a less expensive part, like a rubber seal or a loose hose, is causing the issue.

If your garbage disposal powers up and you can hear it hum, but the arms inside aren’t moving, the problem might be a stubborn clog, a build-up of grease, or a jam of the impeller plate. To troubleshoot these, ensure your unit is off and disconnected from its power source before checking inside the drain or attempting to manually rotate the impeller arms or plate from the underside of the unit. A hex wrench can help.

To prevent drain clogs, perform regular maintenance and cleaning. Avoid disposing of substances like grease or coffee grounds down the sink. Additionally, installing and routinely using drain strainers can help catch debris and prevent blockages from forming.

Garbage disposals can be considered bad for the environment due to their electricity usage, but good for the environment because they reduce the food waste sent to landfills. If everyone used a garbage disposal, it would tax the wastewater treatment facilities in that region, but if we had to choose one of the options, we’d say they are a net positive on the environment when used correctly.

The two main negatives of garbage disposals are they are a safety hazard in homes with children, and they frequently encounter blockage issues. While they might be annoying to fix and monitor, garbage disposals can significantly lower your trash use and are a great way to dispose of organic waste. While there are negatives, the vast majority of homeowners acknowledge the positives are enough to install a disposal in their home.
