Hi, my name is Rory and I offer plenty of handyman services. I also did granite and Quartz Countertops for 20 years. I’ve also done lots of flooring, cabinets, trim and finish work, painting, sheet rock repairs small electrical and plumbing needs. I work by myself and in my spare time love playing and taking care of my kids and watching them grow! Would love to offer my services.

"I've been using Carpet Police for years and I am always glad when I call them! When schedule the appointment, I talk to a friendly person who gives me options of days and times that are convenient for me. When the day arrives to clean, the guys call to confirm what time they are coming. They are happy to move furniture I need help with and they move it all back using styrofoam blocks so my floors look great and my house doesn't have furniture scattered everywhere. We have a dog and we doggy-sit frequently (= occasional potty accidents) and thanks to these guys I still happily sit on the carpet. My kitchen grout changed for the better after you guys were done last time. I'm pretty sure it was 2 shades lighter. I'll keep on calling you!"

"The designers were very nice.  However, they only recommended/carried a litmit number of suppliers - few of which were in Indy.  The suppliers they carreid were also very expensive.  Even though I sent pictures, I found that I needed a designer that could come to the house and help find local suppliers for paints and material."

"I have hired Ivan twice to rebuild stairs leading up to a deck at two different houses. He is very committed to his work and is a problem solverâ ¦.if he is not sure of something he researches and gets it figured out. The quality of his work is exceptional and I am happy to recommend him."

Upholstering questions, answered by experts

Craftsmanship begins with detailed design followed by skilled artisans shaping high-quality materials into the desired furniture, ensuring durability and uniqueness.

DIY upholstery is feasible for simple pieces with the right tools and skills, though intricate jobs typically require professional expertise for the best results.

As with any project, weighing the pros and cons of upholstery can help determine if that is the right choice for you. The ultimate question is whether it’s worth reupholstering instead of buying new furniture. Here are a few of the benefits and disadvantages of reupholstering a piece of furniture.

Pros:

  • Preserving a family heirloom

  • Maintaining high-quality furniture in good condition

  • Reinventing an old piece of furniture

  • Keeping a piece of furniture from going to a landfill

Cons:

  • Spending (possibly) more than to buy a new piece of furniture

  • Finding out the frame is beyond repair

  • Waiting for the reupholstery work to be done

The best way to test the quality of a leather couch is to put your hands on it. If the upholstery is soft and warm, that’s a good indication that the quality is higher. It should also smell like traditional leather. If it smells like chemicals, you’re probably dealing with low-grade leather.

The process usually takes 1-2 weeks, and it is highly influenced by the materials, complexity of the project, and any customization desired.
