"his is the BEST Painter in Anacortes in IMHO and I have done a lot of house painting myself. Reasonably priced and does everything he (Ben Elder) says he will do...and he knows what to say and what to do!!! This really shows up first in the prep work - pressure wash, scrape and then bond with the very best primers - before opening a can of paint. Then, when they promise "2 coats," its actually two full coats of spray, back roll and brush. I am glad to give my highest recommendation and would be glad to talk with anyone as to why, as well as provide address(es) where you can see their work - and Not on very easy new construction but on a 1929 house and garage. I will have them do our other house without hesitation! Most Anacortes painters will act like they are doing you a favor - Complete Painting is building a word-of-mouth reputation and will act like your house is their most important project! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!"

"I scheduled the work for early November thinking the job was a three day affair.  We did not have another bathroom so I needed it done as efficiently as possible, we have 900 sq feet so everything was in disorder.  The contractor rescheduled with me, the day before he was supposed to come for the following week. When he did come, he met me at the hardware store to help me choose items, and to get supplies.  He was on time and communicative, and helped me understand the remodel process.    After working to take out the tub, he did not return for the week, did not call or answer my calls or texts, then finally he called, returning on the weekend.
I felt as if he did good work and did not cut corners and had some integrity about his workmanship. So he went ahead with the second part of the remodel: putting in some new drywall and the ceiling fan and heater.  However, things started to disintegrate, he never came when he said or was late and did not always call. He always had a seemingly legitimate excuse. But in the end a 6-7 maybe 8 day job took over a month!  I ended up finishing the job myself:  painting and putting up new towel racks.
Its a shame, I thought his workmanship good but can't ask him back for the third part of the remodel. It's almost Christmas and I'm painting the bathroom!

Kitchen Cabinet Refacing questions, answered by experts

If you simply need to refresh the color of your cabinets, a coat of paint will make your entire room look brand-new. However, if your cabinet doors are damaged, you might consider cabinet refacing. Cabinet refacing involves replacing the doors, drawer fronts, and hardware, upgrading and repairing them. Consult a cabinet professional about the best option to upgrade your kitchen cabinetry.

Medicine cabinets are not necessarily outdated, but they have evolved in design and functionality. However, some homeowners prefer other storage solutions, like wall-mounted shelving or modern vanity cabinets with built-in storage. Still, medicine cabinets remain a practical and space-saving choice in many bathrooms. In most cases, potential home buyers won’t be swayed by a medicine cabinet one way or the other.

Any of your garage shelves should be able to hold heavier loads, but it’s best to place heavier items on middle shelves. The only reason for this is to prevent injury—lifting heavy loads from down low requires squatting or bending over, which can lead to back injury, and lifting heavy loads off of high shelves in the garage can be especially dangerous if you drop them.

Yes, you can replace just your cabinet doors, assuming the structure of the cabinets themselves is sound. Replacing only the doors can save you money when renovating your cabinets. New cabinet doors cost $300 on average, but range from $200 to $400, depending on the material and size. Keep in mind that replacement doors made of materials like fiberboard and engineered wood are less expensive than wooden cabinet doors.

If you don't sand your cabinets, the new paint or stain won’t adhere properly, impacting the final finish and leading to peeling, chipping, or a sloppy result that won't stand the test of time. Sanding removes the old finish, smooths imperfections, and gives the new coat something to grip. Without it, you will waste your time, money, and effort.
