"We had 4 ceiling fans installed to replace ceiling lights. The work was done rapidly, higg quality and we are very happy with the work. He quoted a full day to install them, however it did not take all day. He only charged for the time he worked, therefore was less money than quoted!! He did show up late and didn't call, but I didn't rate him down because he was so fair. I would definitely hire him again."

"They checked out the existing system before presenting us with multiple options from which to select.  They were extremely helpful in pointing out the advantages and disadvantages of each option.  They worked quickly with our city regarding permit and inspections so the new heating and air conditioning system would qualify for the city's energy conservation program and the low interest low program offered by the city.  They did an excellent job of coordinating the work with two other companies I had working at the house at the same time:  an insulation company and an electrical company.  The work was successfully completed, inspected, and passed as proposed.  They delivered as expected.  Their were 7 different people work did various aspects of the work - all were professional, courteous, and respectful of us and the cleanliness of our house.

"The furnace took 4 days to get approved( not counting a Sunday) the others were quick but the water heater had to be ordered so without hot water for a week. One ceiling fan was easy but within a year their policy changed and They would not install the one I purchased and had to get a new one approved and then ordered online and took several weeks to get straightened out. Not sure who was at fault, AHS, installer or scheduling with renter. Fee is usually $75 per visit"

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

Whether you can install a ceiling fan yourself depends on if you're replacing an existing fixture or installing one where no wiring exists. If you are replacing an existing fan, an experienced DIYer may be able to do the job, which can save on labor costs. This work typically doesn’t require a permit, but there’s always a safety risk when dealing with electrical components, so hiring a pro is still a good idea, especially if you aren't handy. Keep in mind you may need a special ladder for high or vaulted ceilings. However, if you are installing a new ceiling fan where there is no current fixture, you must hire a licensed electrician. In most areas, it is required by law that a professional runs new wiring and pulls the necessary permits. Attempting to install wiring yourself can be dangerous and a code violation.

Yes, ceiling fans come with a few other features that help with function, style, and convenience. Multi-speed fans can give you specialized control over the airflow. Consider getting one with an integrated light to save ceiling space. Some ceiling fans come with a remote control that enables you to change direction without climbing a ladder. Of course, you can also consider installing a wall switch to enjoy that convenience.

The more surface area that a ceiling fan blade has, the more effective it will be at producing airflow. Therefore, a longer ceiling fan blade is the better option if you’re looking for more wind. However, a longer blade will consume more energy than a shorter blade.

Most ceiling fans have a lifespan of anywhere from five to 15 years or 10 years on average. Just how long your ceiling fan lasts depends on the quality of the parts, how much it’s used, and how well you maintain it. A fan with a weak motor that runs on the medium setting nonstop is likely to have a shorter lifespan compared to a fan with a powerful motor that runs on the slowest setting for air circulation.

Fans not turning on, wobbling, noisy motors, or faulty remote controls are common issues requiring repair.
