"Jesse arrived on time and answered all my questions. I don't know much about electricity but he explained everything in a way that I understood what he was talking about. He tested everything along the way and to my complete satisfaction. I'll be happy to hire him again when it comes time to replace my electrical panel this summer."

"Mountain man electric has done everything from wire some new 220v outlets in my shop to installing led lights in some custom cabinets I built. Very professional and incredibly talented. I’ve seen him get more done by himself than a four man crew."

"I had an excellent experience working with Andy and Chris for our electrical needs. From the very beginning, they were professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly responsive. They arrived promptly, assessed the situation quickly, and explained everything clearly before getting started. The job they completed was absolutely phenomenal. Their attention to detail, workmanship, and commitment to doing things the right way truly stood out. You can tell they take pride in their work. Not only was the quality outstanding, but they also worked efficiently and completed everything much faster than expected without cutting any corners. It’s rare to find contractors who combine skill, professionalism, and speed the way Andy and Chris do. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for reliable, high-quality electrical work. Electrical questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can connect two extra outlets (or more) to one outlet if the total load on the circuit allows for it. If you have a 15-amp circuit, electrical code allows up to eight outlets or light switches. But if you’re dealing with outlets in the kitchen and bathroom, you may not be able to have as many. Kitchen and bathroom appliances often need higher amperage. You can also change a single outlet to a double outlet by cutting a larger hole in the drywall and replacing the outlet with a quad receptacle.

Three-way switches are only replaceable with three-way switches. A single-pole switch won't work if you replace one or more of a pair of three-way switches. By electrical code, three-way switch configurations are necessary at the top and bottom of a staircase between residential floors.

There are a few signs of a faulty or failing dimmer switch. This includes your dimmer overheating or feeling warm to the touch, buzzing or clicking noises coming from the dimmer, your dimmer failing to properly dim the lights, and flickering lights. That said, these signs could signal other electrical issues. You’ll need a pro to figure out if your dimmer is the source.

While most electrical items can be plugged into a GFCI outlet, some appliances with internal or stationary motors, such as refrigerators, vent fans, and fluorescent lighting, can cause nuisance tripping. This happens because they experience a small, normal amount of current leakage, which can cause the GFCI to trip even when the appliance is working correctly. Although this is not a safety hazard, it can be inconvenient and may cause the GFCI outlet to wear out faster. For this reason, it is often better to plug these types of appliances into a standard outlet. Additionally, electrical circuits over 100 feet long can sometimes cause tripping. Some appliances, like hair dryers, have their own built-in GFCI protection, so connecting them to a standard outlet is fine.

A ground wire is not required for GFCI to work. A ground is a third wire in an outlet in addition to the live and neutral wires. It serves as an escape conduit for electricity in case of a short circuit. If a ground wire is present, installers should connect it to the appropriate terminal. Otherwise, a GFCI will work fine without it.
