"Awesome! Horizon Plumbing responded quickly. Located plug but also found old galvanized pipes beginning to seep. After discussing options decided to have all pipes replaced. Work completed in 1 day with just a few things to finish next day. Never knew I could be so happy about plumbing! Horizon Plumbing was great to work with, professional, courteous, and very fair. I would absolutely hire them again and highly recommend them."

"Excellent. We weren't sure when the pre-pour building inspections would be complete, but they said "just call, they come quickly."  Inspection completed at 1pm, we called, and they were here to pour at 3pm, and finished by 6pm. Same day.
Also, best price of 3 quotes and a very hard working crew.  They also had the right equipment, including a motorized cart to transport the concrete from the delivery truck to each of the 4 bases required. Saved me from having to pay for a concrete snorkel pump.
If I need concrete work, I call them.

"Our technician, Dameyan Jackson, called the night before the day of service to let me know the time that he would be here to service our system. On Friday, he called to let me know that he was available to come earlier than scheduled, if I would like. He arrived shortly after the phone call, came in and quickly recognized that the pump had failed. He was very knowledgeable and professional. I was very pleased with his service and look forward to him returning to install a new pump."

"I contacted Greg at Absolute Home Solutions to see if he would interested in a small job re-grouting my bath tub surround. I wasn't sure if anyone would want to do such a small job, but he was more than willing to stop by to give me an estimate within 2 days of my calling. Greg was very pleasant and eager to do business. He gave a great estimate (saved me from doing it!) and was at my house doing the job within 3 days. He also came back 2 days later to seal the new grout. The finished surround looks great and I plan on hiring him to do more work for us in the near future."

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

A sump pump's lifespan is typically 7 to 10 years, though the general range can be anywhere from 5 to 15 years. The specific type of pump is a major factor: pedestal sump pumps last an average of 20 to 25 years, whereas submersible sump pumps last between 5 and 15 years. While pedestal pumps are less expensive to service, they are also louder and more prone to clogging.

Several other factors influence longevity, including the pump's quality, usage frequency, and maintenance schedule. A high-quality pump that is well-maintained in a dry climate may last for two decades, while a lower-quality, poorly maintained pump in an area with a high water table or frequent flooding may fail in six years or less.

Regular maintenance, including annual inspections and tuneups from a professional, can significantly extend the pump's life. It is time to consider a replacement if your sump pump runs constantly, cycles frequently, shows visible rust or corrosion, or trips a circuit breaker. As a preventative measure, many homeowners replace their pumps every eight years. It's also worth noting that a manufacturer's warranty can indicate expected lifespan, and some home insurance policies may not cover water damage from a pump that is past its recommended replacement date.

No. Sump pumps have different capacities, which refers to the volume of water that they can remove. They also come in various horsepower ratings, which measure the size of the pump’s motor. For many homes, 1/3 horsepower is enough. But if you live in an area that floods often, you might need a more powerful model.

DIY is possible for simple repairs. Professional services ensure proper diagnostics and long-term reliability.

Sewer ejector pumps need to be cleaned at least once a year by a professional. You shouldn’t attempt to clean it yourself because it can release sewer gasses that are toxic to humans and can be fatal. But to keep the system as clean as possible between professional inspection and cleaning services, be sure to only flush human waste and toilet paper. Avoid flushing items that can clog the system, like paper towels, grease, oil, or menstruation products.

Thankfully, you do have a few sump pump backup options in case it fails. One option is a battery-powered backup sump pump. Another option is using a portable backup generator as a power supply for your sump pump. Unlike a battery-powered backup which has limited power, a generator can run around the clock for as long as you need it.

Or you can opt for a water-powered backup pump, which uses your home’s water supply as a source of power. However, this may not be the best option if you find your house frequently has low water pressure.
