"Rick's crew did a marvelous job.  After having four other companies come out and give us bids on fixing our "lagoon" in the backyard, Four Aces came up with the most logical, simplest solution for the best price.  Their solution was to install four actual drains in the yard and connect them with the drainage pipe leading to the storm sewer. It was a no brainer.  They were easy to schedule and they completed the work in half the time we expected it to take.  They were even considerate enough to work the loud stuff around my baby's nap schedule.  They had warned us that they were probably not going to be able to completely restore the lawn and landscaping, but after they were done...it looked better than before.  (I'm pretty sure someone weeded a little.)  This was still a big household project for a family on a budget, but we were so excited to see that the water did in fact drain down after the first big rainstorm.  Now every time it rains, I truly enjoy going into the backyard and seeing that the "lagoon" is gone.  They completely solved our issue."

"We needed a French drain installed in our back yard to divert ground water around our septic drain field. Dillon spent the time to understand exactly what our needs were, and to explain what he would be doing. He was responsive and easy to communicate with. He gave us a detailed quote, at a significantly lower price than the other bid. He arrived on time and worked late, and got the job done earlier than promised. He spent the time to clean up the mess. He cleaned up our driveway (where he had temporarily dumped a pile of gravel) and the side of our house (where he drove his equipment back and forth to move dirt and gravel) far better than I expected. I would definitely hire him again."

"Perms-Dry did an outstanding job. They explained the work to be done in detail, arrived on time, completed the work in one day. Their workers professional and did a great job of cleaning up once the work was complete. I have seen no signs of water issues since they installed the system"

"I bought the $299 Big Deal for Handyman for a day. David came the day before to check out projects and know what materials he would need for the projects. He showed up on time and was creative in solving some issues that came up. Even noticed a couple of small issues and made quick fixes as he worked. Great guy and great handyman!

"I called Hagee this morning at 815 am and at 2.30 the same afternoon the sink is working, the clog gone, and the kitchen is all cleaned up.  Caleb did an amazing job fixing everything up, plus he cleaned up the space and corrected my husband's slight plumbing error.   Caleb let me know he was on his way, and then left me with his business card should we need anything else.

He highly recommended the hydro clean, and I am planning to schedule that sooner rather than later.  Everyone I spoke with at Hagee was fabulous.  Thank you Caleb and Hagee team.

"Things went really well. Rick knows his stuff and communicates really well with folks like myself who has very limited knowledge in plumbing issues. They really helped us out as we were moving into a new place and the water in our well had some bacterial issues. We were uncomfortable with our 2 year old and baby drinking the water so we bought a UV water sterilizer system and needed it to be installed. Rick and his team were super busy but moved a few things around to help us out given our emergency situation of living in our new home without drinkable water. He even found an electrician to help with our electrical issues at the well and he also did great work. On top of that the price was reasonable! All in all Alpine provides great work, great service and most of all they are great people. Not only do we recommend them but we will use them for all our plumbing needs!

Install Garbage Disposal questions, answered by experts

Whether it's worth repairing your garbage disposal depends on its age and the specific problem. Generally, if the unit is eight years old or younger, repair is a good option. For minor issues like a bad seal or a simple jam, a repair can be inexpensive, sometimes under $10. However, if the motor is broken (a repair that can cost $150 or more) or the unit is getting old, it's often more cost-effective to replace the entire disposal.

When a dishwasher discharges its wastewater, it uses a pump to quickly move a lot of water. If anything in the drain line or the garbage disposal impedes the high volume of water, it will back up into the sink through the drain or the garbage disposal. Following regular dishwasher maintenance tips like clearing clogs, keeping them cleared, and occasionally running the disposal will eliminate the problem.

The most common garbage disposal size in the U.S. is 1/2 horsepower. This size is ideal for households with three or fewer people or those that don't produce much food waste. Although 1/2 horsepower can't handle the typical food waste load for a household of four (which is about 250 pounds of food waste annually) as effectively as 3/4 horsepower, it remains the most common size of garbage disposal on the market.

If the cost of repairing a leaking garbage disposal is close to the cost of replacing the disposal, then fixing the unit might not make sense. When deciding if you should repair or replace your garbage disposal, consider the age of your garbage disposal, the cost of the repair, and whether your garbage disposal has had other problems recently to help you decide if the cost of repairing the leak is better than the cost of replacing the disposal.

There are many maintenance and repair issues that lead to a malfunctioning garbage disposal. Regular clogs place wear and tear on the motors, leading to an eventual shutdown. Electrical issues at the breaker, wall outlet, or disposal itself can fry the unit. The most common cause is simply a worn-down motor. These motors can only handle so much use before powering down for good.
