My agent emailed me daily with new listings meeting my price and geographic criteria. I drove by those that could potentially meet my criteria. When I had accumulated several candidates, I called my agent, and we did interior inspections of the houses (On a hot Summer day, she even brought a cooler full of drinks!). This went on for over 6 months. In early January, 2011, I finally found a place that I thought would work (I fell in love with the mountain view). There was a house nearby, and my agent, remembeirng my initial criterion of privacy, queried me on that point. I think that shows that my agent's interest was not in in making a sale, but in making a satisfied buyer. Other qualities of the property won over, and I finally bought the house. I had wanted to buy a house years, but didn't know whom to trust. I had been sort of burned by advice (decades ago) and a co-worker had spoken to me about how he hated real estate agents [bad experience]. Once I found PRESS, I had the confidence to go ahead. We were never looking for just a real estate agent. We wanted someone who has a deep understanding of the real estate market and who can consult us on what to do on tough situations. Sure enough, her advice and direction was very much needed in this extremely difficult sellers' market. We interviewed many agents prior to picking Nancy and it was a great choice. Her experience in real estate, professionalism, and great personality stands out! She will be our real estate agent for all future house purchases or sales. To summarize Nancy's ability as an agent I could just say that we just won a tough bidding war on a property that had 15 offers. Nancy doesn't just give you recommendations on the price of a property, she helps putting together a great offer as a whole, and this is what matters the most. First she spends time with you understanding your needs. Additionally, she explains in detail what the current real estate market looks like and what type of property could potentially match your needs. She is very patient and kind, and will spend as much time as necessary for everyone to be on the same page. She is very professional, always on time, and very responsive. When we identified the property that we wanted to make an offer on, she acted quickly and was well prepared well in advance. Even after the our offer was accepted, she ensured that everything went smoothly until we got the keys to the house. Nancy will be there for you along the whole way and will provide you with great advice and support. Her many years of experience in real estate show and we would not trade it with anything else! Received a call about 8:45AM that he could be at my location between 1:00PM and 3:00 PM. He called again at 11:30 PM and said he had had a cancellation and could be there in 15 minutes. The service tech arrived on time and inspected the windows inside and out and confirmed that the icing we were seeing was normal for this type of window. Our home buyer and the real estate agent arrived and he explained the situation to them with clear examples. He said that all windows ice to some degree in below zero temperatures and that the icing on these was consistent with metal frame windows of this age. He suggested turning down the humidifier and installing deflectors to direct the heated air for the ducts away from the windows. I was a first time home buyer and went to Sunny since she had an office near me and had recent sales in my area. I got a good vibe and she seemed to figure out pretty quickly what kind of home I wanted. She and her husband took me around to several interesting houses over the course of a month and a half.
I quickly valued her opinion since she would point out hard-to-see positive aspects and would readily point out things about houses that made them a terrible buy. She never pushed anything, which was something I was a little worried about when I first started meeting real estate agents. In fact, for most homes we'd visit, Sunny would downright say she disliked it and would walk through all the reasons why (overvalued for the location, hard to remodel in the future, etc). She clearly had experience with remodeling, plumbing, design, and just about everything I don't know about real estate. During two inspections she pointed out some things that the inspector had missed.
She found me a fantastic house that hit a good price point and is wonderful all around. I was happy with her responsiveness and her (and her assistant's) great work closing. I had experienced a snag with the lender, as seems to happen a lot, and she passed all the paperwork around to extend the closing date without me having to worry much about it.
Her rates were comparable to other agents I looked at and based on my experience it was worth it.

Longs was recommended to us by our real estate agent. Initially their prices were higher than the big box stores, but they had overstock in their warehouse that we chose which was price competitive. The installation went well and they even replaced defective carpet in one of the rooms without us noticing or asking. The quoted price versus measured price was quite a bit different (25%) and higher than what we found to be the industry average (10-15%). FAQs for real estate service projects in Arlington, WA
Yes, hiring a real estate agent is worth it. Many homeowners make the mistake of trying to sell their homes by themselves, thinking that they’ll save money on the commission, but what they save on the commission, they very often pay for in frustration and concessions on the sale price. Hiring a real estate agent to handle the sale of your home not only makes the process far easier and takes the burden off of you, but most homeowners get more for their homes when going through an agent because of the marketing and salesmanship they bring to the table.
Real estate agents work on commission, so the cost of hiring an agent will depend on the cost of the home you’re buying or selling. The listing contract should include information about the commission for both agents, which is usually 6 percent of the sale price in total or 3 percent per side. With an average national home value of around $440,000, the typical commission per agent is $13,200. However, you won’t pay this total out of pocket. Instead, the commission comes out of the sale price of the property.
Interviewing real estate agents is the best way to find the right person for the job. Consider asking the following questions to find the best agent for you:
How will you show my property?
Will you do open houses to market my home?
How will you handle dual agency (representing the buyer and you as the seller)?
Should I make repairs to my home before listing?
Will you get professional photos taken of my home?
What is the best price you think we can get for my property?
How long do you expect the sale to take?
You don’t legally need a real estate agent as a buyer, as you can represent yourself, but you should always hire an agent as a home buyer. A professional real estate agent will have access to local MLS services to find homes that meet your criteria and needs, can connect you with other professionals—like a mortgage broker and real estate attorney—you’ll need for the purchase, and can often negotiate a better price for your home to help save you money. Plus, as the buyer, your agent’s commission comes from the seller’s proceeds from the sale of the home.
