"Lynn Lapping, one of the sales representatives, came to my house, measured the windows and the next day sent me a quote for blinds (Hunter Douglas Applause Line). During that first visit, she was friendly and provided answers to all of my questions. Two weeks later, I contacted her to come by and measure three kitchen windows, as I am planning to put roman shades in them. Lynn came by, but she seemed off, she was rushed, impatient and a bit rude. I had recently received a quote for drapes from another company and I asked her if she thought the prices were reasonable for the type of drapes. She was annoyed and told me that I should had ask her to measure those windows during her first visit to get a quote for drapes.  However, at that time, I had no plans to put drapes there so I could not have planned for it. I ignored her demeanor and attitude, we all have bad days, and so I assumed she was simply having a bad day.
I wanted to place a deposit for the blinds on the spot but she locked herself out of their system and she could not process my payment. She told me that someone would call me to get my credit card information, but no one ever did. I called her the next day to ask for the final quote and make sure everything was ready to go, she told me she would get the quote to me later that evening or the next day. She never did. I called the following day and left a voice mail for Lynn. The office manager e-mailed me to let me know that Lynn would be out of the office due to a family emergency and that she would contact me the following week to place the order. I e-mailed her back and ask her if someone else could help me with the order as I did not want to delay the process an additional week (lead time is three to four weeks). She told me that John the company owner would contact me to process the order. All of these e-mails were exchanged on a Wednesday. The weekend came and the owner never e-mailed or called me. On Monday I e-mailed the office manager to ask if someone would be calling me to process the order. I also ask her to let me know if they could not process my order so that I could find another provider. I received the following e-mail: "We apologize for the delay. Due to the scheduling conflicts with our designers, we will not be able to assist you with your order.  We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused." 
While I understand that family emergencies do happen, it does not make sense for a business to stop because one of their employees is unavailable. I am happy that my order did not get process through this company; I can get Hunter Douglas blinds for the same price with other providers. What would have happened if I had trouble either with the delivery, installation or quality of the blinds and Lynn was not available to handle those situations? Again, business continuity is a must for a company to be successful, business can not stop for one employee.

"While we determined I could not gain much space for the expense, he still lubed my 25-year old garage door opener and checked the spring. And taught me how to do all this myself. He was late making our 2-hour scheduled window due to previous customer time, however, he called me to let me know he'd be late and also called when he was on his way. "I arranged for specific date to come in, but that was changed to another day since Tom's tint guy was busy. No big deal. I dropped off the car to be tinted and when I returned, I immediately saw that the tint guy had left drip marks down the sides of my car doors, smudge marks around the windows, and a bubble on the back window. This from a detail shop! I had asked for 20% tint to be put on and as I drove around the first day after being completed, I realized this tint was much darker. I took the car back and at first Tom said it WAS 20% but then realized it was 5%. Both 20 and 5 are illegal, but 5% is like limo dark. Tom agreed with me that it needed to be removed and redone. We scheduled a time and the tint was replaced. When I got in the car this time, I had new issues. I could see a small spot where there was no tint near the bottom of one window. Also, the rear defroster lines were severed at the bottom of the back window. Tom again agreed to have the tint redone. As far as I can see, the issues are now resolved, but what I'm left with is a car with signs of a poor tint job (the defroster) and several exterior cuts and scratches I swear weren't there before. (The car is not in perfect shape to begin with, but why should it endure more blemishes?). While Tom was agreeable to making things right and when I asked for a free wash he obliged, the whole experience made me wish I had never had gone to his shop in the first place. I had a car detailed there several years ago and liked the work, and thought a detail shop would surely demonstrate 'attention to detail.' I think Tom needs to find a new tint guy or just not offer that service if that's how it's going to be done."

"Install was easy. Up front cost was pretty low with Angie's List coupon. Monthly price is a little high compared to competing companies. Response time with alarms is excellent. I was advised to use glass break alarms within 10 ft of my first floor windows, which we installed correctly. I asked prior to installation if having one in the kitchen would cause false alarms due to dishes clanging, etc. I was told the glass break alarms are configured to a precise frequency that alarms with breaking glass. So, not a "no", but not really an answer. Well, every time we cook dinner, wash dishes or empty the dish washer, the kitchen glass break alarm gives a warning which would sound the alarm if it was set. This has caused us a number of false alarms while we've been away due to shifting bowls or plates in our drying rack. For the first several we've had to pay our police department $120 to check the house, and I was only notified after the first alarm that there was a cheaper option for a security company to drive by to check for a break in."
