In the end, he determined that there was a short in the underground control wire but recommended that we wait at least a month for any frozen water in the conduit to thaw before fishing a new wire. He set the generator up so I could start it manually in case of an outage. He returned about six weeks later when the ground was thoroughly thawed and replaced the wire. Sure enough, the old wire had been damaged probably from years of sitting in water and freeze/thaw cycles. He replaced it with a heavier gauge wire and gave me some suggestions for drilling a drain hole in the conduit. He tested the generator to make sure it would start in a power outage and also checked the plugs and valve clearance while he was there just to be certain everything was in good shape. Nate was neat, friendly, informative, completely professional, and most importantly, highly skilled. Reliant is a bit pricey, but for this type of work it pays to have someone with years of experience who was able to diagnose the problem correctly and fix it right the first time."

"I had an appointment for 7/16 for cable installation in a second floor bedroom and can light installation in the basement gym. This was actually the 2nd appointment for the basement can lights as the electrician ran out of time during a prior appointment. The electrician called in sick the morning of the 16th, so an alternate electrician was rescheduled to arrive at 8am on 7/17, leaving enough of a window prior to when Comcast was supposed to arrive for the cable box install at 10:00 am. The electrician called at 8:47 am to let me know he was on his way and finally arrived at 9:15 am - over an hour late. So, of course he was not finished when the Comcast installer arrived. Snaking the coax cable from the basement up to the second floor bedroom took the electrician about 2 hours - he left my house before 11:30am. I was charged $679, which I feel is very high for 2 hours of electrical work. And the basement can lights were not done again, for the second time. When my husband called to discuss this with them, after they did not respond to an email from me on the topic, the owner was rude to him. Needless to say, we will not be using Melody Electric again."
