Bruce Reed, owner of BDR Construction, did an awesome job on our new 2 car garage!  Bruce is the real deal!  He is very professional, prompt, courteous & gets the job done!  We are very pleased & impressed with our new garage.  The roof flows so nicely with the existing 1.5 car garage that it is now attached in front of. 

Half way through the project I decided another window was needed in the garage to provide more light & help avoid the feeling of a long tunnel.  Bruce took the news in stride and agreed it was a good idea.  He asked me to pick out the window I wanted & said he would get it installed.  He had already put up the wood frame on that side of the garage but didn't even flinch with my request.  He did a terrific job of cutting & framing in the extra window with no complaints. 

The month of June was plagued with a lot of rain but Bruce didn't let that keep him away from the project.  He worked as much as he could despite the weather.  On days of torrential rain of course it was impossible until the roof was on the structure. 

I highly recommend Bruce Reed of BDR Construction to anyone thinking of adding an addition, remodeling or building a garage.

Not only did he and his co-worker finish the job on time it looks fantastic! He showed us places where we could save money by doing things ourselves and even helped us fix a pre-existing foundation issue. Bruce was very considerate of our family's needs throughout this process as well making sure he and Joe arrived after we were all awake. They also cleaned everything up each night before they left so we could continue using the space when they were gone.
We highly recommend his company to anyone looking to remodel.

After optimizing the design, construction started and proceeded to a successful conclusion in a timely manner. Minor revisions improvementing the overall result were made along the way without any large impacts to the schedule or cost. The crew is very knowledgeable and professional.

I joined Angie's list to find a vendor for this job and it all worked out really well. I did a search, found Bruce to be top rated, called him that day and received an estimate that day! The quote was a better price than others and all of my questions were answered in a timely manner. When it came to the job it was totally pain free, professional and on time. I would very highly recommend this vendor to anyone that wants a similar great experience.

Everything was done within a reasonable time, and Bruce made sure we weren't inconvienced. We would hire him again, in a heart beat.

Before the job started, I began e-mailing Bruce in March to get in to his summer schedule and all e-mails received a prompt and detailed response.
Bruce was on time if not early to start every day.Professional appearance and professional on all levels.There was one day he had to reschedule but he was up front and it was not an issue.
Price was reasonable and even below a couple other estimates (middle range +) and overall roof work is not going to be cheap so he was in the ballpark on price.
Bruce did about 85% of the job alone and had help the last full day. (Job took just over 3 work days)
The peace of mind of having a real professional around your house (and on your roof!) is well worth it!

I called BDR, and promptly received a call back. The work was scheduled over the phone, and the repair person came and did the work all without my presence. The repair job seems to have been done well - it looks good, and there are no more leaks in the porch roof.

I had 4 people estimate this job. One did not respond and the other three were all in the 4 to 5 thousand range. A sticking point was an awning mounted on the roof that shades the patio. BDR Construction proposal included moving the awning up the roof, then replacing it when the re-shingling of its place was done. The other folks said I would have to have the awning company remove the awning, then replace it later. That would have cost several hundred dollars more and left me with the logistics problem of scheduling. So, BDR got the job. Bruce (the principal in BDR) came when he said he would and did what he said he would. He's a very hard worker and got the job done in 2 1/2 days. The site was left clean and neat every day. Bruce is very friendly and easy to work with. I will use him again when I need other things done.

BDR completed our project on time, on spec and on estimate. The results look beautiful. Even more important, Bruce suggested a way to install the siding so it would stand a fraction of an inch off the house and last longer through improved ventilation. He also installed Ice and Water in a novel way that should help us avoid leakage from an ice dam that often forms in one spot. Throughout the project, Bruce was constantly on the look-out for ways to save time and money without compromising quality one bit. All told, Bruce and crew were terrific to have around and I would hire them again in a minute.

Upon looking at the scope of the work, a cost estimate was received quickly and the job started and completed within the estimated time interval.

In one of the storms in last fall, several shingles got ripped off our 18 year old roof and were scattered across our yard. My wife called another contractor (not Bruce) who did not show up before the winter snows covered our roof.

After the thaw, we called Bruce. Bruce called us back and showed up the same day on his way home from another job. He inspected the roof and determined what was necessary for a short term fix (Bruce did not think a total roof replacement was necessary at that point but pointed out that it likely would be necessary in the coming several years). Bruce took a piece of the broken shingles that we had in the front yard from last fall, so he could properly match the color for the replacement shingles.

Bruce communicated well with us throughout the entire process and did a fantastic job on the repairs. We were out of town the day Bruce did the repairs and I called Bruce in the morning he was scheduled to do the work to ask if he could also look at the gutters because we started seeing some leaking around the spot where the gutter guard had ripped off before. Bruce told us that he actually had already completed the roofing job but was still in the neighborhood. Bruce went back, determined that gutter build-up was the main culprit as well as damaged downspouts (that had been run over with the lawnmower). Bruce trimmed the gutters and cleared the gutters up top to allow for better flow. Since his repairs, our roof has had no problems and we have had no water issues with our gutters and downspouts.

Bruce was at our house within a few days, gave us the best estimate of three companies, offered cost-saving tips, and let us know exactly when he would be able to start our job. He always communicated clearly, arrived when he said he would, and finished the job within the estimated time. We have dealt with many contractors over the years, and we have to say that Bruce Reed is the best contractor we have ever met. It was so nice to do business with someone who was knowledgable, congenial, had the ability to communicate clearly, and followed through. We would hire Bruce again, in a heartbeat!

Bruce was prompt and professional at every stage - returning my original call, reviewing the job and providing an estimate, and squeezing the job into his schedule. With typically unsettled VT weather, Bruce stayed in communication, letting me know when he'd likely be on the job. The work was completed quickly and with high quality - a great experience start to finish. I would definitely use him for future work and give him high marks across the board.

They were great. He was really polite, good humored, and timely. He got everything done within the timeline that he gave us and I would definitely recommend this company to my friends. He is very good about returning phone calls and answering emails. His price was really competitive.
