Customers say: Quick response

"Well, Joel did eventually manage to get a good result, reducing the radon level to 0.6. And the work he did was neat and tidy. But it took him 3 tries and cost me 3.5 times the original estimate. Original estimate $1525, actual final cost $5272. And he left me stuck with a $1300 â high efficiency fan that I did not need. What the heck am I supposed to do with it? And why did not he just do what he finally ended up doing, moving they system to a different location, instead of perseverating at the original location using an industrial strength fan? In retrospect, I am not sure about his judgment. Plus he has real issues with timeliness the work took 12-15 months to complete, including 4 (count em 4) reschedules each of which ended up with my job being knocked to the back of the queue despite the fact that it was Joel who canceled each time. Finally, it took him as long as 12 months to get me a paid receipt for the first two attempts (totaling in excess of $3200) which were paid in full at the time he did the work. I am still waiting for a receipt for the final almost $2000 of work."

"I have worked with many contractors, plumbers, electricians, etc. in my time owning two homes. On here in New England and the other in Pembroke Pines,FL. These gentlemen from rhino radon services were deffinelty personable and proffesional I felt like my home was in good hands with this company. After calling around and having a job scheduled with another mitigation company I was blown off and left with a short deadline. Luckily after speaking with Henri from rhino radon they were able to squeeze me right in your schedule the very next day even though they had two other jobs scheduled they showed up at 5pm and still completed the job to ensure I met my closing date, if your looking for a standout and accommodating radon company I would say look no farther then rhino radon. I was very pleased with the service I recieved. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

No, air purifiers are not an effective way to reduce or remove radon. Radon is a radioactive, inert gas that cannot be filtered by standard air purifiers, which are designed to capture particulates like dust and mold. While an air purifier can improve indoor air quality by removing other pollutants, it should not be relied upon for radon. The only effective solution for high radon levels is a dedicated radon mitigation system.

Radon enters your home when warm air begins to rise and exits through the roof, creating a vacuum that pulls cooler air from under the foundation. Part of that air is radon, which is an invisible, odorless gas that develops naturally when radioactive particles are deep within the ground. Those particles usually come from decaying matter in soil and rocks.

Keeping radon from getting into your home is much better than having to get rid of it once it's already indoors. While there may not be a way to fully prevent radon from getting into your home, there are things you can do to reduce the gas's ability to enter.

Sealing foundation cracks and openings can help keep the gas from seeping inside. Improving air flow, such as by opening windows, can also be helpful. If you're building your home from scratch, talk to your contractor about using radon-resistant construction to keep the gas out.

Mitigation can take several days depending on home setup, equipment accessibility, and achieving effective diffusion system sealed efficiency.

Abatement includes sealing entry points and venting with systems that reduce radon levels below recommended EPA limits. It is handled by certified professionals.
