Well, Joel did eventually manage to get a good result, reducing the radon level to 0.6. And the work he did was neat and tidy. But it took him 3 tries and cost me 3.5 times the original estimate. Original estimate $1525, actual final cost $5272. And he left me stuck with a $1300 â high efficiency fan that I did not need. What the heck am I supposed to do with it? And why did not he just do what he finally ended up doing, moving they system to a different location, instead of perseverating at the original location using an industrial strength fan? In retrospect, I am not sure about his judgment. Plus he has real issues with timeliness the work took 12-15 months to complete, including 4 (count em 4) reschedules each of which ended up with my job being knocked to the back of the queue despite the fact that it was Joel who canceled each time. Finally, it took him as long as 12 months to get me a paid receipt for the first two attempts (totaling in excess of $3200) which were paid in full at the time he did the work. I am still waiting for a receipt for the final almost $2000 of work.

"This work was done during the peak of the Covid Pandemic causing many delays. Typically work is completed in one day and the price is usually as quoted. Materials were delayed several times due to manufacturing issues caused by Covid for which the client was well aware. There were extensive issues with the under-slab soil and a high underground water table that the customer also did not mention in her review. These underground issues cause several problems with the radon mitigation process creating all the budget and timing issues. Of the 4500 or so radon mitigation systems I have installed this was the worst underground issue I ever had. Because of the finished basement, we could not install the preferred alternative mitigation system and that is why more than one system had to be installed. I stayed with the job until I had very low post-mitigation radon levels. I kept the customer informed throughout the entire process and did not bill for many hours of research and engineering time. I just receive payment and the client has demanded a receipt within 24 hrs. I informed the client I would send a receipt once the payment has cleared."

quick and efficient but I still don't understand how it works - putting basement air out side only to be replaced by cold outside air

To be honest, I do not have any experience to compare with this one, but I can say (which is why I gave high marks) that I was quite impressed with Joel's extensive knowledge, his thoroughness in explaining the process to me, both on phone ahead of time and then as he was here doing the installation of the equipment. He was very patient, both with the job as well as explanations to me. He worked very steadily, cooperative when the buyer called with questions, etc. and an "upbeat", positive personality. A process I was dreading turned out great. Thank you.

Joel does all the work himself. I had a water leak which turned into 4 water leaks. I could not get Joel to come back to fix the leaks so I hired a plumber to come fix the leaks. The plumber had to redo most of what Joel had done and also he added a valve to my water system to help handle the pressure the air raider adds to the system. Knowing what I know now I would not let Joel put in the system unless there is a licensed plumber with him. He would not come back to make the system right. I am not sure he knows how.
Response from

"Leaking water was existing when I showed up to do the job and was pointed out to the homeowner. All required control valves were installed during my system installation. No excessive water pressure was detected and no additional volume control was needed. Most clients appreciate some improved water pressure. Radon in water level was reduced from 11,000 pCi/L down to 350 pCi/L. The work was done clean, neat, on schedule and at the quoted price. The mitigation unit was even moved outside the boiler room at no additional cost to the homeowner. I've been plumbing for 30 years and have 100's of references of happy past customers...Joel"
