"Removed 5 large Oak trees that were in close proximity to our house and property line fence, plus healthy trees we did not want removed. Also 10 smaller saplings. They did a great job clearning everything without any issues. Realized at the end there were 2 trees I should have flagged. They offered a fair adjustment to the cost to remove those. Cleaned up the site and hauled it all away. Highly recommend. Worked hard, quickly, and safely."

"In an effort to sell my home myself without a realtor, this was the single best investment I made. It gave me the knowledge I needed to set a realistic listing price, allowing for both art and science. Andrew was knowledgeable, professional and courteous."

"Excellent. I had a poor experience with 2 prior roofing contractors and had shared my concerns with Alex. He was empathetic and assured me he wanted me to be happy with hiring him. A good friend had referred him to me as well. Alex showed up when he said he would and made sure he left the job site clean and picked up when the job was done. I only rated him “good” pricing wise because he is not the cheapest but I feel he was well worth the price paid to make sure the job was done right. Thank you Alex! Mike"

"Northern basements was able to fit us in quickly, pulled our crooked cement wall back in-place and sealed the wall to prevent future leaks.  The work was timely, communication was friendly and detailed, and price was as to be expected for the large amount of work that needed to be done.  We are very pleased with the whole process as well as the results.

"They weren't forthcoming about additional testing. Base inspection $299 then additional $400+ for lab testing. Wish I had known for vendor comparison purposes. However, I think it was worth it. Owner said the techs need to be instructed to say it was optional, but it helps you better understand the mold your dealing with. Glad I did it but not sure if it could have been done for less."

"Rapid response to our problem and a very complete, professional inspection! Also, Bo was upfront about the cost and took as many samples that were required, but no more. It was definitely worth the money."

Home Inspection FAQs, answered by experts

If you are considering buying a home with a cesspool, you will need to weigh the potential costs and hassles. Your primary decision will be whether to maintain the existing system or replace it. Maintaining a cesspool involves ongoing expenses for services like aeration, pumping, and cleaning. Alternatively, you could dismantle the system and replace it with a modern septic tank or connect to a public sewage line, which involves significant upfront costs. It is also crucial to check local and state regulations, as some jurisdictions require that cesspools be replaced before a home can be sold. Ultimately, you must decide for yourself if the financial investment and effort are worth it for the property in question.

You might consider demolishing a house if it has a faulty foundation, widespread mold or pest damage, or other significant issues. Older homes with outdated wiring systems or dangerous materials could also be good candidates for demolition. Or, if you’re planning to remodel the entire home, you might find that it’s more cost-effective to tear it all down and start from scratch.

A pass/fail home inspection is a type of inspection that a buyer pays for with the understanding that the results will not allow for renegotiation. It’s most common in situations where the buyer waives a home inspection contingency to get their offer accepted when there’s a lot of competition for the home. The buyer will accept the house as-is without requesting repairs or renovations to fix potential issues, or they will consider the inspection a fail and will back out of the deal, losing out on the cost of the home inspection.

Normal home inspections do not include sewer lines or septic systems, hazardous materials like radon or mold, swimming pools, electrical systems, or pest problems. Most of these require a separate inspection by a qualified pro in addition to a general home inspection.

Routine inspections are normal for rental properties. The frequency is up to the landlord. Some property owners only want to check the apartment annually. Others may take a look every three to six months. State laws vary, but more frequent visits may violate a tenant’s “covenant of quiet enjoyment.” This refers to the resident’s right to enjoy relative privacy and freedom from unreasonable disturbances.
