"John did an excellent job painting the exterior of our house. The estimate he gave was accurate to the final cost of the job, and he completed the job in the amount of time he estimated. He was communicative in the lead up to the job and promptly addressed any concerns. He kept a clean worksite and did a very neat job painting. He was also very helpful in pointing out a few areas for me to keep an eye on in the future for possible repairs. All, said, I had a great experience hiring John."

"LeafFilter doesn't clean gutters, they sell and install their LeafFilter Gutter products and only clean the gutters if you buy their product. I can't even begin to afford their product so I wasn't able to get my gutter cleaned by them."

"Weâ ve had a wood stove for most of the 30 years in our home and have used a number of chimney cleaners. A decade ago we landed on Fireside Gas & Chimney Service as the best value and by far, the best service. Their work is impeccable - they are more thorough and more thoughtful than any of our previous chimney and stove cleaners. In addition to a comprehensive cleaning of our stove pipe, the chimney is inspected, a report is filled out and a copy is left with us. James always carefully disassembles our stoveâ s smoke baffles and meticulously cleans them before reinstalling. At the end of the service call, the area theyâ ve worked in is left spotless. During our recent service, James changed the damaged heat panels in the stove with replacements I had purchased earlier and didnâ t charge me for his installation time. In addition, they felt the state of the stove pipe indicated that we burn efficiently and modestly enough that they recommend only returning for a cleaning every 2 years. Tim and James are both refreshingly honest and truly helpful. If itâ s possible to give a 3-thumbs-up, Iâ d do it for Fireside Gas & Chimney Service."

A Level 2 Chimney Inspection is typically required upon the sale or transfer of property or anytime the system's experienced a significant change such as a Chimney Fire. \n\nWe also Service Dryer Vents! One of the most important factors playing a role in your Dryer's overall performance is its Venting System. Dryer Vents should be free and clear of excessive lint and debris. When servicing these systems a before and after Air Flow reading is taken to ensure maximum efficiency and shortest possible dry time for your clothing.\n\n

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

It is definitely worth sanding a deck to ensure the wood absorbs new stain. Sanding a deck removes the outer layers of aging wood, allowing the stain to penetrate. It also gives a fresh look to the entire surface as part of the deck refinishing process. Without sanding, your stain or sealant is less likely to absorb into the wood. While sanding a deck is a time-intensive project, the rewards are noticeable and long-lasting.

If you want to make a deck cleaner from products already in your home, there are various options. The most common is to use a gentle blend of 1 gallon of warm water and 2 tablespoons of ammonia-free dish soap. You can also mix water with distilled vinegar. Sprinkling on some baking soda can help to remove mold and mildew. You can add oxygen bleach (but never damaging chlorine bleach) to the water and ammonia-free dish soap solution for something a bit stronger.

When deciding if you should use 2x6 or 2x8 deck joists, consider the size of the deck, joist spacing, and materials. Larger decks, larger-spaced joists, and weaker wood all require more support, meaning they need larger joists. For example, 2x8 redwood joists spaced 16 inches apart can only safely span up to 10 feet and 7 inches. On the other hand, 2x10 southern pine joists spaced 12 inches apart can be as big as 16 feet and 2 inches. If you aren’t sure what size joist is best for your project, speak with your deck builder.

You should refinish your deck to maintain its appearance, durability, and longevity. Refinishing your deck protects the wood from foot traffic and the elements. It also helps extend its life span by keeping rot, mildew, and termites at bay. By maintaining your deck, you can avoid the cost of replacing your deck sooner. A refinished deck also looks great and restores some of its original beauty.

If you have wood decking, there are several common deck problems that you might encounter. For example, your natural wood boards may fade over time due to things like sunlight, weather, and debris. On top of that, some types of wood decking can rot, grow mold, and attract destructive pests—including termites, carpenter ants, and woodpeckers.
