"This was a very involved plaster repair and remediation job, in a very old house. Grady is the only person (or company) who was willing to take on the job and drive all the way from Pennsylvania to our home in Northern Virginia. There are very few people who do this kind of work anymore (we really searched) and he is an expert in his field. We needed to work around his schedule, because he is in demand in the tri-state area, so it took awhile to schedule the work to begin... but it was worth it."

"I recently hired M.C. Fence & Deck, LLC to install an aluminum fence, and it turned out fantastic. Hunter was a pleasure to work with, professional, helpful, and easy to communicate with. He made sure everything was measured right, set correctly, and finished on time. I would definitely recommend M.C. Fence & Deck, LLC to anyone looking for strong fences and friendly service. "They installed 10 feet of metal railing with nice decorations.  I got 10 different quotes. Some were from Home Advisor. These guys seemed to know what they where doing and their price was really reasonable, so I hired them. Right after the visit to my house, they sent me a quote and I approved it. They had how long it would take for the fabrication and welding time, and they included a schedule for installation. They did it right in the time they quoted. I was very pleased with the job. I would recommend this company to friends and family members.  I will definitely use them again in the future."

"Nafi and his team did an awesome job remodelling our kitchen and replacing our hardwood floor.  He tore out our kitchen and replaced it with new cabinets, appliances, lighting, granite, backsplash, sink, faucet, flooring, and paint.  His attention to detail is remarkable and he is very good about listening and making adjustments on the fly.  He has such a keen sense of design that we didn't need to spend the extra money on a professional designer.  He helped us to select the cabinets, color, granite, backsplash and the overall design of the kitchen.  His pricing is highly competitive and I really feel that we got a great value for the work that he did.  He is neat, punctual, and got the entire job completed in about 5 weeks.   I highly recommend him for any house project, big or small.  We plan to have him remodel our bathrooms next.

Welding questions, answered by experts

Sawing your hot tub into more manageable chunks so it can be lifted easily into a truck takes several hours. Generally, 2.5 hours for smaller hot tubs and around 4 hours for larger ones with the help of one to two people. If money isn't a concern and you want to skip the physical labor, you can hire a pro to get the job done.

It will likely take an experienced pro less than an hour to install a ground rod, which is another reason why letting them handle the job is such a good idea. Safety concerns aside, it would likely take you much longer to install a ground rod if you decided to take this one as a DIY job.

Welders use a variety of methods in their trade. Different types of welding are better suited for different purposes and contexts. For example, stick welding is a versatile form suitable for most metals and alloys. The most common types of welding include:

  • Stick welding: $100–$1,000

  • Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding: $250 and up

  • Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding: $250 and up

  • Gas welding: $150 and up

  • Forge welding: $15–$25 per hour

Cutting round ductwork requires precision and the right tools. A duct cutter, specifically designed for circular ducts, is ideal. First, mark the cutting line on the duct using a measuring tape and pencil. Then, position the duct cutter's blade on the marked line. Apply steady pressure, rotating the cutter around the duct. The sharp blade creates a clean, precise cut. Alternatively, a reciprocating saw with a metal-cutting blade can be used for larger round ducts. Ensure the duct is securely held in place while making the cut to prevent slips and maintain accuracy.

This all depends on the tools you have on hand and whether you’re trying to cut a straight line or shapes.

The best tool to use for straight lines is either a circular saw or table saw. When cutting shapes, a jigsaw will be the easiest and most precise tool to use.
