The quote process was very smooth - Blake returned my call promptly and scheduled a time to measure and hear my wishlist which included new cabinets, the removal of a wall, and the addition of an island. He made great suggestions after he listened to what I wanted. The appointment was quick, and when I received my itemized quote and layout drawings, I was happy to see that everything we discussed was included at a price I thought was fair and reasonable. I was told a timeframe of when the work would start when I accepted the quote, and it started on time. Tim, the contractor, and his assistant Karen were WONDERFUL and did great work. Yes, but you’ll have to use some other type of tool to avoid damaging the tile and possibly injuring yourself. Some alternatives to tile cutters include a glass cutter, angle grinder, and wet saw. Depending on the tile material, you might simply be able to measure and score it with something sharp, like a carbide-tipped pencil, and break it off. Be sure to sand the edge for a smooth installation.

The process takes two to four days, depending on the size of the area and your experience level. The first day involves assessing and prepping the existing tile, while the second day is for laying the new tile. This may take longer in complex areas. After letting the adhesive dry for 24 hours, grouting and sealing can be completed on day three. For larger projects or intricate tile patterns, expect the timeline to stretch a bit longer. Also, proper drying time between steps is essential for long-lasting results, which extends the project’s time.

Quartz is an engineered stone offering a nonporous surface. Quartzite is a natural stone composed of sandstone, making it highly resistant to heat. Additionally, quartz is lower maintenance, while quartzite often requires sealing and more careful upkeep.

You can let the tile sit without grout. Don’t panic if there’s a delay between installing the tiles and grouting. A substantial stoppage isn't a problem, provided you keep the tile surface clear of dust and debris. Also, avoid walking over less stable ungrouted floor tiles as they are more prone to premature cracking and shifting. 

Just because you can, doesn’t always mean you should. You can apply new tile over existing tile in a bathroom, but the new tile may not look great if you lay it over worn, cracked, or uneven tiles. The adhesive may not be able to attach the new tile to the old tile properly, and this will add more weight to the drywall.

It takes more time and effort, but removing existing tiles before retiling a bathroom is worth it.
