"After many recommendations from the locals, my husband and I reached out to Brandon Turner at Pro Quality Property Maintenance to figure out what to do with our overgrown backyard. Our in-ground pool had about 3 feet of flat space around it but from there it was a steep decline on two sides down to our fence. The slope was a mishmash of dozens of shrubs, old tree roots, bushes, weeds, and old landscape fabric that was no longer doing its job. In the winter it just looked barren. In the summer everything grew out of control until it looked like an urban jungle. Half of the yard around the pool was totally unusable. The only one who ever went back there was my Labrador, and even she found it kind of scary in the summer. We had no idea how to configure the slope. Frankly speaking, I was just ready to pay someone to pull up all the roots and shrubs and mulch the whole thing. Brandon came out and had some fantastic ideas. He suggested a retaining wall and cleanup of the area down below near our fence. We settled on sod, mulch, and a flat patio in the fence corner (a great spot for the husband to listen to his ball games at night), and pea gravel around the pool. With the retaining wall, we gained 8-10 feet of usable space on two sides of the pool. This was a game-changer for us. And that wall ainâ t going anywhere. Itâ s solid. We werenâ t even thinking about things like drainageâ which was important with our pool. These guys do not mess around. Brandonâ s crew were awesome. Very polite, efficient, and cleaned up every day. They re-seeded areas where the equipment had run over the existing grass (unavoidable) and the whole effort took about a weekâ s worth of work. We also had Pro Quality do some mulching and edging in the front. I let Brandon pick out some plants and he nailed it with pink and white azaleas and a really cool skinny weeping umbrella tree (I donâ t know what their correct name is). I seriously could not be happier. It looks amazing, is easy to take care of, and we have a ton of usable space to set up around the pool. I canâ t believe Brandon isnâ t even 30 years old, heâ s a freaking genius! I should note, I had an estimate from another local company for the same design and they were almost identical. Thank you, Pro Quality Property Maintenance! You ROCK!"

"

Contacted All American painting & Home repair company based on Angie's list reviews. Mr. Wayland (Eddie) arrived, gave us an estimate, took his time explained everything he was going to do and how he was going to preform the necessary work that needed to be done. We had a few set backs based on the  weather as this was all exterior work. Paula(Eddie's wife) kept us informed , excellent communication, as to when he would be arriving and when he was not. Eddie and his assistance Orval are hard workers, very detailed, very professional. Windows look brand new.

This is a family owned business, that provide outstanding service, we have referred him to our neighbor, we would not hestitate to use this company in the future. Very pleased. They are located in Front Royal Virginia just to make sure you have the right company.

"Jake and crew came out (over an hour drive one way) to correctly install a couple of out door outlets. Prompt and friendly. We will be using them again on a few other upcoming projects in the future. Thanks again for your expertise."

"Mike was the only contractor to call us back right away.  He showed up when he said he was going to show up - he called when he said he was going to call.  Installation took 3 days and each time - he called on time and showed up on time.  Very happy with his service and highly recommend."

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

Rubbing alcohol may also remove ice from your driveway in a pinch. It has a lower freezing point than water, which expedites the unfreezing process. Pour 70 percent isopropyl alcohol into a quart or half-gallon spray bottle and spray it on your driveway. You do not have to dilute it with water.

While most people associate defrosting icy roads with salt, you can also use sugar for a similar result. Sugar lowers the freezing point of water, melting ice in a pinch.

However, sugar doesn’t melt ice as well as salt because it doesn’t separate the water molecules as efficiently. So, if you need to quickly melt a stubborn patch of ice on your driveway or walkway, it’s best to use salt over sugar for faster results.

Yes—in fact, it’s an important step in how to start a snow blower. Allowing the engine to idle for a few minutes prior to using a snow blower helps it reach its optimal operating temperature, which gets the fuel running properly, improves its performance, and helps prevent stalling during frigid weather.

It’s the reverse of home de-winterization. To winterize, you purge your plumbing system (including your water heater and all piping) of water. Some experts also recommend filling fixtures with an antifreeze solution. Other tasks involve winterizing sprinklers, sealing foundation vents, check weatherproofing around doors and windows, and more.

Heavy amounts of snow could be a problem. In many climates, lots of snow on your rooftop can lead to freeze-thaw cycle that create ice dams, which can damage rooftops. But if you’re using shingle clips, this snow poses an additional problem: As it melts and freezes, it can easily dislodge clips you’ve placed on your roof.

You can clean snow off your roof after a fresh snowfall while it’s still lightweight, but brushing off snow can also dislodge your clips. If you get a lot of snow, then roof clips become less viable.
