"JES Foundation Repair you have quite a gentleman in Certified Field Instructor (CFI) Howard Glancy. Today, I met CFI Howard Glancy for issues that had been discovered in my basement. Mr. Glancy was very courteous, knowledgeable and informative especially compared to other foundation repair contractors. Before starting the site survey, Mr. Glancy asked if I had any concerns or reservations. After the survey was performed, Mr. Glancy shared the findings, causes, and informed me in detail of the solution and its installation. After completing his report, Mr. Glancy asked once more if I have any questions or concerns. In the end, I elected to go with JES as Mr. Glancy was able to express and demonstrate why this project should be done before engaging another; and why one solution is better than the other; and especially why JES is hands above the competition. Sincerely,"

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

Egress windows require regular maintenance to ensure they function correctly. This includes cleaning the glass, inspecting the frame and well for debris, and making sure the cover or well drains properly. It is also important to check that the window sills and wells are watertight and to inspect and repair any damage to the window frame or seals to prevent leaks and maintain functionality.

Rescreening your porch can take a few hours to a whole day, depending on the size of the enclosure and the amount of screen that needs replacing. If you decide to have a professional handle the rescreening, be sure to get a timeline and a cost estimate so you know how long you’ll be without the screened-in space.

Most window screens in residential homes are designed to be removed from the inside, especially with double-hung, single-hung, and casement styles. That said, some setups require exterior removal. Older homes or custom installs may have exterior clips or brackets, and sunscreens are almost always mounted on the outside. Before removing your window screen, look at how it is held in place.

Window seals don’t last forever, so they’ll inevitably fail for one reason or another. One of the most common reasons is the expansion and contraction of the glass. When the glass gets warm from sunlight, it expands and adds pressure to the seal; at night, as the glass cools, it contracts. This process, day in and day out, can eventually cause the seal to fail. Other common sources of failure include the house settling over time, chemicals that damage the seal when repainting windows, and incorrect window installation.

Window repairs cost $175 to $615, depending on the type of repair. Because double-hung windows have two sashes and multiple pieces of hardware, like locks and handles, there are many parts that can break over time. Repairing locks, latches, or other hardware costs about $75 to $200 and is easy to DIY. Fixing one or multiple sashes costs about $200 to $600.
