"There was no "trail" of damage from the foundation to my upstairs bathroom, so I was not completely sold on the foundation being the problem. I ended up getting two other opinions from different companies and they said that I didn't have any real problems with my foundation. They discovered what they say is a compromised wooden I-beam on my upstairs floor and repairs are continuing on this area to sure-up the bathroom issues before I repair the cracks and broken glass. I also found that using a laser leveler to measure foundation problems was not acurate as there was no baseline measurement for which to compare any descrepancies. The laser leveler was simply measured against the molded-in brick pattern on my foundation walls. There is nothing to say that the molded-in pattern is prefectly level to begin with and can be used to make acurate measurements from to determine foundation sinking. I came out of the experience unsure of the truth and wonder if JES would recommend the pier system to EVERY customer, as there probably is sinking in many foundations in my area, just not sinking that is so bad it would require an expensive pier system in order to stabilize. I decided not to use JES' services. I would suggest always getting a second and probably a third opinion on anything having to do with foundation repairs as an ENORMOUS amount of money is at stake in making the repairs."

"It is with deep satisfaction that I recommend Grady?s Painting and Plastering & Construction. Mr. George Grady is a skilled craftsman. He was hired to correct long neglected and extensive masonry and window issues on a large, beautiful Presbyterian Church built in the Civil War era in Philadelphia. The property was neglected with only minimal maintenance performed over the last 40+ years. The building was in severe decline and in need of stabilization and restoration on many fronts. Cracked ledge plates were chipped out and reestablished, internal walls damaged by leakage were broken out and repaired, brickwork was repointed and in severe cases reestablished to original strength and beauty. Leaks around the base of the building were addressed to stabilize deterioration of the foundation. Large rotted window sills under beautiful stained glass windows were restored after significant masonry reestablishment due to water damage under the rotted out sills. Broken and missing stained glass windows are in the process of repair and replacement. The process started with new metal frames cast by Mr. Grady. The new frames will hold clear painted replications of the original stained glass, also crafted by Mr. Grady. Regular windows all around the church and manse were also repaired and restored. Roof leaks were accurately identified and repaired. A sagging plaster ceiling has been torn out and restored. All this work was done by Mr. Grady alone or with an occasional helper. He worked with care, expertise and respect for the original structure. The results far exceeded our expectations and have injected new life into a building on the brink. This building, owned by the Presbytery of Philadelphia, now houses a new urban ministry in a newly gentrifying area of the city. "July 22, 2014 update.
 One garage door window was broken during the accident. This company's response stated that they would contact me upon my return from out of town. They did not. I called them and left a message but got no response.  I waited a while before calling again, assuming that they were simply busy. While I waited, I removed the remaining broken glass in the frame. In doing so, I had to remove brackets holding the glass, from the inside. I sent them an email several weeks ago, asking if they could sell me the clips, or if they needed to replace the glass themselves. No response!  I called them a week or so later, and spoke with the lady who answered. She recognized my name, she said, and would have someone bet back with me regarding the glass. No response! I called a second time, with the same information and was again told they would contact me. No response! A few days ago, I called a THIRD time, speaking with, I think, one of the owners. She assured me they would try to find the needed clips, and contact me. No Response!

At this point, I will either figure a way to replace the glass myself or call someone else. I also lowered my Angie;s List ratings accordingly. ]

I called on a Friday, as the damage occurred on Thursday night. The lady who answered the phone said "all our crews are out for the day - we can be there Monday". I was a bit surprised, as their site states "24/7 service". We were leaving on vacation on Tuesday, so I was a bit nervous about getting it fixed before we left. With few choices, I agreed on Monday.
The service tech arrived at the scheduled time. He gave me the impression that he was new in the garage door business. He asked me what happened and what the current shape the door was in. I was very pleasantly surprised that he immediately started repairing the door using a set of horizontal braces. I assumed he would try to sell me a new door. It took him no longer than half an hour or so, and the door worked - good as new. And the price was very fair.
I was a bit surprised that they would send a new worker out without an experienced person. One of the glass door windows had broken, and he did not know how to replace it. He called later and asked to come back to measure the glass - something he should have done while still here. We were too busy packing, preparing pets, etc., so I had to tell him it couldn't be done that day. I was also surprised that he didn't offer to adjust the Down Force on the door, to keep the problem from happening again. When I asked him why the door failed to reverse, he muttered something about sometimes a chip in an opener will fail. Again, it seemed that fixing the root cause of the problem would go along with the repair. I've made this adjustment several times over the years, and know that it only takes a few minutes. In fact, I mentioned that it appears I will have to adjust the down force - assuming he would take the hint that he should do it. His response was "yes, it appears that it needs it". Maybe he didn't know how.
Bottom line - The immediate problem was fixed, at a fair price. I would use this company again - although would insist on an experienced person."

We are in the process of updating our 40 year old house to be more energy efficient and the 2 windows mentioned had to go. There were both large areas of glass and I knew we were losing energy thru them. I have installed windows before, and I had already priced out several options from various manufacturers if I wanted to order the windows and install them myself. But since this job required 2-3 people to install windows that large and heavy, I also wanted to get options to have somebody else do the installation.

I did not have any experience with Castle before this purchase, but I did a little research, and they were one of the contractors I called out. The salesman Alex came out and spent a good amount of time with us. He was aggressive and very confident, but I never felt put off by it. It made for a lively conversation and we actually kind of liked him. We decided to give Castle a chance due to the lifetime warranty, and the fact that they had been around for so long (relative to other window contractors). The price Alex gave me wasn't the best price I got, but it was fair enough. Having a good idea of what each window would cost me (not including installation) I knew they were getting a good price for doing the installation, but as long as they did it right I was willing to pay it.

The guy who came out and did the measurements was a surprise. He was young, but professional and gave us a lot of good options for how to build our windows...how much glass, how deep we wanted the sill, etc. Much appreciated.

The 3 man installation crew arrived and proceeded to tear out the old windows and put in the new ones. They worked hard, were neat, and I watched them as they insulated around the new replacement windows. They then did an excellent job flashing the new windows...and did an excellent caulk job to finish it off. I was impressed and did not expect to be impressed. If I had installed the windows myself I don't think I could have paid any more attention to the details.

So far the windows have been great, made a big difference in what has been a brutal winter, and my wife is very happy with them. Because of our experience with the windows we actually called Castle back out for a front door replacement estimate and install. We are hoping that Castle does as good a job on our front door install as they did with our windows. We will write a separate review for the front door and side light install after they do that in March.
