"I first went under Craigslist because I was pressed for time. The "moving company" was unprofessional andgetting paid by the hour, so they took three hours to break one bed down and haul a dryer on the truck. I was out of state for work and my father was supervising the move. I called the manager in regards to their unprofessionalism towards my father, the time, and also the workers STEALING. Well that owner cursed me and then told the movers got throw my things back in the apt. Well that's when I bought an Angie's membership and contacted Absolute. The owner answered and immediately went to my apt to give me an estimate (all done during the first call). He came to introduce himself and his workers the next morning (even though they were booked) and they started right away. My dad kept expressing how professional and efficient they were. My dad called me throughout the whole process complimenting how great they were. Thanks Tony for rescuing me and my things!

"I was looking for the most convenient way to move from Miami, Fl to South Carolina. Everybody was charging me over 2.5k to rent me a truck that I had to load and drive. Moving APT was one third of the price (I called a month before I moved). The boxes looked small at first sight but the smallest one fit my 2-1 apartment. They picked up the box, I took my time to enjoy the road trip to SC, not worrying about hauling the big load. They arrived in about a week and everything was just like I packed it. The drivers were fast, but careful and very friendly.::::}}}}"

Hauling questions, answered by experts

The average cost of junk removal is around $250, but prices for this work range from $60 for small projects to $600 or more for large projects. Some companies charge per hour of work, but most will inspect your home and then give you a flat fee for the entire project. Garbage removal labor varies from project to project, so the best way to get an accurate estimate for your service is to contact a reputable garbage removal company in your area and hire them to inspect the junk that you plan to remove.

A basic bijou shed might only take a few hours to dismantle if you have the assistance of a few helpful friends or family members. Large sheds with structural issues and concrete foundations could take a full day or two to fully demolish safely, even if you’ve called in the professionals.

Most companies that haul away old hot tubs build the cost of disposal into the price. However, there's no guarantee. Always ask for confirmation before agreeing to an estimate. If the removal company does not also dispose of the hot tub, you will need to rent a dumpster or hire a local junk hauling service.

While tipping junk haulers is not required or expected, it is a greatly appreciated gesture for a job well done. Many junk removal companies state that tips are welcome but not mandatory. A good rule of thumb is to tip between 10% and 20% of the total bill, or a flat amount of $10 to $20 per worker. For exceptional service, a tip of $20 to $50 for the entire crew is also appropriate. It is often best to give cash directly to each worker at the end of the job.

Consider tipping if the crew:

  • Goes above and beyond your expectations.

  • Handles heavy, bulky items or navigates difficult spaces like tight hallways or stairs.

  • Works in inclement weather or deals with potentially hazardous materials.

  • Takes extra care to protect your home and property.

  • Accommodates a last-minute scheduling change.

Costs depend on concrete thickness, removal method, labor, and disposal fees.
