"This was my first time using Angi and I am impressed. I did not expect such a fast response from Hunter @CXL Plumbing. He was at my home a few hours after I submitted an inquiry. He did quality work for a good price and was most professional and did a great job with clean up. I will not hesitate to use them again."

"We had an emergency plumbing issue and received a text from Star Servco offering a quote. I was offered an appointment time between 10am and 1pm for the quote with the strong possibility of having the work done at that time as well. I asked for 10am and was provided that time slot. By 10:30am, the plumber still had not arrived so I called the company and spoke with Robin who told me he was held up in traffic but was heading that way. After more calls to the company, the plumber arrived at 11:45am. The company umbrella-ed under this company, 1-Hour Service, that provided the quote and service promised service within an hour or the customer doesn?t pay. We had to pay $350 for a new line and shut off valve for our leaking toilet and, although I have been in touch with HomeAdvisor, I have not received a reimbursement. We were in the process of moving out of this house and into another one at the time this plumbing emergency occurred. Our time is worth something and to have to wait, with no call from the company explaining there was a delay in the plumber arriving, meant we could not be accomplishing necessary tasks. The plumber himself was very easy to work with and professional. In fact, after he completed the repair, he noticed a leak above the one he fixed and made that repair (at no extra cost) as well. The problems with this company were a lack of communication, disinterest in the issues caused to the customer by an unkept appointment time, and a less than reasonable repair cost."

Toilets questions, answered by experts

Yes, frozen pipes can prevent a toilet from working correctly. If the pipes are frozen, water cannot flow, which means your toilet tank won't be able to refill after a flush. This will prevent the toilet from flushing again. Depending on which lines are frozen, the ice can also block the drain pipe, preventing water from flushing away.

As a temporary workaround, you can manually add water to the tank for each flush. To clear a frozen drain pipe, you can try filling the toilet bowl or tank with warm water and flushing to help thaw the ice. However, the best long-term solution is to unfreeze the pipes to get your toilet back in working order.

Plumbing installation costs in renovations typically range from $300 to $1,500 or more, depending on the complexity and specifics of the project.

You can tell if your toilet fill valve is full by removing the lid and taking a look. When you flush the toilet, the float is at the bottom of the tank, the water empties, and the fill valve opens. The float rises to the top as the tank fills again with water. When the float rises to the right level, the fill valve closes; if the valve is too high, your toilet may only partially flush, requiring you to adjust the float.

Check connections, clean fixtures, and apply finishing or protective coatings to preserve months' worth of shine and functionality.

If you experience the telltale sign of wax ring failure, which is leaking water, replacing the faulty ring takes one to three hours, depending on accessibility. This is an exacting and time-consuming job, as several components must be removed for the plumber to access the ring. Once replaced, however, wax rings require little to no maintenance and last 30 years or longer.
